Weekends!

I have been working more than I want to the last few weeks (the misery of orientation)...and so when I'm not working, I've tried to be extra present with Rowan and we've tried to get out and enjoy the island before it gets hot! The last several weekends we have lucked out, getting nice weather at least one day of the weekend.
Two weeks ago, we went to Hijagawa river, where they had koinobori (carp flags) hanging in celebration of children's day. We decided to go for a run along the river, after which we took some pictures and walked along the seawall. It was perfect! Rowan even wore his fish shirt for the event :)
Last weekend, we went to a friend's gender reveal party (it's a boy! yay for a friend for Rowan), we checked out some new stores, where Rowan got an awesome new pair of water shoes, and Grant and I got some clothes (and cute clothes are somewhat hard to come by here). Afterwards, we went to Araha Beach, which was busy but perfect for the evening hours that we were there. Given that it was derby weekend (and we weren't really going to get to celebrate it since it ran super early Sunday morning here), I wore my derby hat to the beach ;) It is SO much fun to watch Rowan play in the sand. He hates when we carry him on the sand, he squirms constantly until we put him down and then he instantly starts digging and playing. We walked down to the water, and he proceeded to sit down and instantly start splashing. He's so fun!

This past week, I had orientation in the OR and was supposed to work 5, 8-hour shifts (which is not what I signed up for when I started this job)...so I talked them into letting me work 4, 10s instead and got Friday off to go up to Okuma (a resort on the north end of the island) with Grant's clinic. The weather had been rainy all week and was pretty overcast and windy when we left home, but when we got up there yesterday morning, it was PERFECT! Couldn't have asked for better weather. I was so grateful that I was able to be there hanging out with my boys instead of at work while they played. Rowan again loved the sand and the water, and Grant had fun playing volleyball (while Rowan, Dominik and I played on the playground) and snorkeling.  Rowan played so hard all day that he crashed right before we walked up to the car!

LOVE these days with my family...grateful that we love to spend time together and are able to live in such a gorgeous place! It's hard to be away from Rowan when I'm at work, but we are making the most of all our time together, and I'm looking forward to starting my "normal" work schedule!
