Licking River adventure

Yep, it has a weird name...but we had a lot of fun! A guy in Grant's class, Seth, had a birthday last week, and to celebrate, about 25 of us went to a river (about 45 minutes from here) for a little canoe trip.
Mom, here is the picture for you of us in our life jackets at the beginning ;) No, we didn't wear them longer than this picture, but I can assure you this river was not dangerous and we could stand in it the majority of the time.
As you can tell from the pictures, the water did not move fast, but it was a gorgeous day, and we enjoyed just floating down the river. We stopped in several spots along the way, I'm not sure why we stopped so many times, but I guess if you're drinking constantly, those potty breaks need to come more often than usual... (see boys waist deep in the water-not to gross anyone out :)
I had to work in the morning before we left, but Grant got up with me at 6 to make a batch of Snickerdoodles to share with everyone... Charis getting the hand-off...
At one stop they decided to skip some really big rocks...Grant has some crazy skipping skills and could bounce rocks like this across the river.
4 dentists and a nurse... (well I guess we're all still wannabe's at this point)...
Enjoying my Cherry Coke Zero (current favorite beverage of choice) in a homemade Koozie and Courtney and I sharing some awesome pasta salad that Abby made...I even loved the tomatoes in it (and for those of you who know my eating habits, raw tomatoes are not top on my list)
And here is what a long day on the river can do to a person....
Well I really didn't get that many quality photos because I didn't want my camera out that much for fear of getting it wet, but we had a great time. We floated down the river, often holding on to each other's canoes 3-5 together, enjoyed some sun and shade, ate lots of good food and remembered how much we love being outside (especially when water is involved!)

  2. This is fun. Reminds me of the couple times I went on Green River through Mammoth Cave and jumped out of trees along the way. :) by the way can you ask Laura Huntzinger to add me to her private blog - cecpool@gmail.com Thanks. :)
