Happy Halloween!

Although we had no real Halloween plans this year, I did my best to make it a day that was a little bit different than all the others. What fun is a holiday if you don't make it at least a little bit special?! I slacked on some traditions like carving pumpkins, etc. However, our house is decked out in its Halloween finest and I have unfortunately been eating candy all week in anticipation :)

I love how this neighborhood trick or treats...everyone goes out on the driveway, kids come around with their parents, and it is such a fun and social atmosphere. We lucked out with the weather (it was a little chilly but comfortable in just a long sleeve shirt). We didn't really have costumes this year, but used what we had...
The dentist and the tooth fairy, reminding kids to brush their teeth when they were done with all their candy (ok, we didn't really remind them, but one mom got a kick out of it and told her little 3 year old she was going to have to brush with a toothbrush as big as my wand after eating all the candy she got!) We figured this was the last year Grant could ever dress up like a dentist (since next Halloween he will actually be one :)

The winner of the costume contest in my eyes was a cute little family with an infant in an awesome hot dog costume, the mom and dad were ketchup and mustard, and they dressed up the stroller like a hot dog cart...it was SO cute! We had a lot of cute kids with fun costumes, most of who were incredibly polite. It was a fun night.

We rounded off the evening with some homemade Mac N Cheese (recipe here)
...and watched the Today Show, Halloween edition, that we had recorded from this morning. Loved the royal wedding costumes, made even more fun by the fact that Meredith came back as the queen.
Now its back to studying and homework and preparing for the rest of the week ahead, but it was fun to have different kind of Monday! (now I have to put away the haunted house and get out the turkey centerpiece). Love fall decorations!
