Weekend away

Grant and I were both able to take last Friday off, so decided to make the most of our free weekend and head to see our favorite little North Carolina family. It was rare that I didn't have to work, Grant didn't have clinic in the afternoon, and neither of us had tests immediately following the weekend, so figured this may be one of our only chances this semester.
"Hello, nice to meet you!" (their new super cute "trick"!) Love that we feel like they are really starting to remember us and are comfortable around us.
Friday we hung out at home in the morning while Al was at work, went out to lunch with Karrie and the kids.
When Al came home we headed down to the lake on a little walk. Al and Ayda swam while we stood, watched, and Grant played photographer :) That night we grilled some amazing steak on their new grill and enjoyed a fancy home cooked meal together.
(it was obviously a bit windy-this was the pic with the least amount of hair in our faces!)
On Saturday, Grant, Al and Madi took off to Sam's Club and got some salmon so the guys could try out their new grilling planks at lunch. Again, we had an amazing grilled lunch (salmon and hamburgers) and spent the rest of the afternoon hanging out. Karrie and I ran and did a little shopping and then we took the kids downtown for a little photo shoot (which is virtually impossible with triplets, but made easier having 2 extra adults to help). That night Grant and Al went to priesthood session and a little pizza party, and Karrie and I ordered pizza and had a fun girls night. (And since Karrie is so busy actually raising these kids day in and day out, thought I'd post a few pictures for all of you who are also missing these babies and wanting more pictures ;)
Grant is definitely the fun "uncle" and got a good workout throughout the weekend. They are at the age where they want to do the same thing a million times if it's fun, and then they all see the other one having fun and want their turn. I'm surprised he wasn't more sore!
Sunday we hung out in the morning and then headed back home. Our trips are always so short, but so fun and worthwhile. Love you guys!
We drove down after class on Thursday so didn't get there until late and it was dark half the way, but the drive home was beautiful. I still am always in awe of the beauty of driving along the freeways here...so many trees, beautiful scenery, and the treat this time was that the leaves were starting to change. Because it was conference weekend and we drove home on Sunday, we were able to pull up the talks on our phones and play it through the stereo. It was really nice, kept me awake during conference and actually made the drive pass quickly. Wishing we lived closer to everyone we love...but trying to take advantage of seeing the people we can that live close enough now since who knows where we'll be living a year from now!
