I remember last year the night before Rowan turned 4, he told me he didn't want to turn 4, because he loved being 3 (my heart melted a little). This year, he has been counting down the days until he turned 5. This made me a little sad because I felt like it proved he has finally become a kid, no longer a little kid. I remember always wanting to be older and hated when my friends turned an age before me. This 5 year old was SO ready to turn 5 :)
For Rowan's birthday, I asked what he wanted to do, eat, etc and he said that he didn't want to decide anything. He wanted me to make ALL the plans and wanted all of it to be a surprise. And he was serious. He didn't want clues to what we were doing or anything. He wanted everything all day to be a surprise. So...we did it! It rained almost all day which kind of ruined my original plans, but I figured out an alternative rain plan and it was great. For breakfast we had dutch baby pancakes, then we went to Rockin Jump, a trampoline park we had never been to but was awesome because we had the whole place almost to ourselves! Then we got some cheesy rollups at Taco Bell (one of his favorites) for lunch and headed home for everyone to rest for a bit. Dylan took a nap and my parents and the kids watched Peter Rabbit. Then, we headed out again and went bowling on base so we could be close to Grant to pick him up on our way to dinner. We ate at The Habit and then went home and had ice cream sundaes and opened his new bike. It was a really fun day and he enjoyed each activity and surprise :)
Rowan is such a great kid! He is a wonderful big brother and loves to help and cuddle Dylan and plays really well with Boden. He has entered the phase of having to be the "biggest, fastest, strongest, best" at everything, but with reminders can be encouraging to others. He is starting to really like playing with friends, is happiest when he is outside, loves dinosaurs and hot wheels and wrestling with dad and Boden. He can run and run for hours but will also sit and look through his dino book or do a craft (he is a self-proclaimed "artist"). He likes to pick out his clothes (and is really good at it-although sometimes likes to choose shirts and pants that match exactly). He is definitely a daddy's boy and LOVES to be with him. He is a rule follower, is very honest and has such a sweet heart.
I cannot believe this little guy is 5!
Happy birthday Rowan Grant!
