Oceanside vacation days

We're going on vacation! (with Grant!) Rowan asked at least 5x that day if Grant was really coming with us on vacation. He wasn't the only one excited about that though ;) We were really glad Grant had a week off between school years to fly to California with us.
The flight out went pretty great (besides an 80 minute delay). The kids were happy and excited and Dylan fell asleep right before we got on the plane and slept the entire flight except to eat once. The other boys played games for 2 hours and slept the last 3 hours (we didn't fly out until 10pm).  Once we landed in San Diego (just after midnight-3am our time-we caught the shuttle to a hotel on harbor island and went straight back to sleep). We woke up at normal time, Grant went to get a rental car and we started our journey to eat our way up the coast to Oceanside :)
First stop....breakfast at Donut Bar. We got a lemon pistachio and a maple bacon. They were handing out free sponge bob donuts for kids so that's what they got!
Then we did some driving around sightseeing and then had lunch at The Taco Stand in La Jolla. Just as good as I remembered, except for the fact that the churro machine was broken!
And then dinner when we got to Oceanside with the Phillips at In N Out. It was an amazing first food day in San Diego :)

Rowan and Riley quickly rekindled their friendship and acted like teenagers every time they sat on a couch together. Luckily they're only 5 so it was innocent and cute :)
The next morning Grant returned the rental car (because Brian and Heidi are awesome and let us borrow a car for the remainder of their trip) and then we headed to the beach in Carlsbad (in their RV!) We found a great parking spot, the kids loved riding in the RV, it was easy to pack all our stuff and we got to go up and make mac n cheese for lunch for the kids! I could really get used to the RV at the beach lifestyle :)
The weather was great, the kids were excited and I was so happy to be back at the beach. They have been talking about going to the beach for months now, so I was happy to make their dreams come true as well.

Mac n cheese on the beach...spoiled kids!
Walks on the beach with Heidi...this is what we did almost everyday when we were pregnant with Riley and Rowan. I miss it so much!
Getting to be the beach baby he should be :) Hopefully his (and my) dreams of living near the beach will come true again ;)
Loved watching these 4 play together. Catching sand crabs literally kept them busy for HOURS. It was so cute.
Hanging out in the RV
That night we went to dinner at Randy and Cindy's. Danielle was visiting so it was so fun to see and catch up with all of them.
Dylan really liked the ice cream for dessert :)
The next 2 days were also spent at the beach. We paddle boarded at the harbor, played at the park, went for a run around our old stomping grounds, made smores and smoreos, ate pizza on the sand, ate burritos on the sand, played in the water, hot tubbed in their yard, and so much more! It was a perfect beginning of our vacation. We love Oceanside...the memories, the beach, the people and spending time there!
And they all played really hard...we were all playing, and I looked around and saw Boden lying face down in the sand, completely asleep. I laid a towel over him so he wouldn't burn and he slept like this for 1.5 hours. I don't blame him, beach naps are the best.
After our fun in Oceanside ended, we headed up to Orange County (stopping at the Rainbow Factory Outlet for some new flip flops) and then proceeded to the hotel to meet up with Grant's entire family to celebrate his parent's 50th wedding anniversary!
