Apple picking-Homestead Farm

I was so excited when Amy suggested we go apple picking! I had been wanting to go but hadn't picked a farm or coordinated it. She got a recommendation to go to Homestead and it ended up being perfect! We picked Enterprise and Fuji sun apples, both were delicious. The boys had fun running through the rows of trees and Rowan especially loved climbing way up high to get the really good apples! Most of the trees were pretty bare low down but had several apples up high still.
 Finding the good apples :)
We made them do the hard work for us..until they got tired/lazy and then we had to pull them in the cart along with our haul of apples.
Way up in the trees! It was a crisp fall day, perfect for picking delicious crisp apples. I was disappointed with the quality of the last bath of apples I had bought at Costco, so having good apples again was such a treat...and now I'm spoiled and don't want to eat anything not straight off the tree, because they really were SO much better!
Blake and Amy came over again yesterday for Blake and Grant to do some car stuff, and all week I had been getting sad that our apples had almost run out. So, I looked up Homestead again and it turned out that this is their last weekend they are open and they had tons of pink lady apples on the trees still. So Amy, Rowan and I drove out to buy a few more apples. We were just going to buy already picked ones at the farm but Rowan wanted to pick so we went out to the trees and were so glad we did. These trees were COVERED with apples, it was crazy. They were the perfect delicious, crisp, sweet and sour apples. I bought way more than I probably should have but I couldn't help it. Rowan and I both just kept seeing perfect apples that were calling to go home with us :)
So I'm happy to report that we now have another few weeks (at least) worth of apples to enjoy, fresh off the tree!
