Christmas baking

We got to Davis and were immediately put to work by my mom and her ambitious baking :) For a day and a half straight we spent lots of time in the kitchen...but the result was delicious, beautiful, and brought joy to lots of neighbors and friends.
We combined the old and the new (as evidenced by the cookbooks below)...and made some classic favorites (aka the ones that everyone expects each year), and then some new ones.,There was a lot of this....And here is the complete list of cookies/candies we made: caramels, English toffee, Russian teacakes, peanut butter blossoms, homemade mint oreos, chocolate thumbprints filled with ganache, cream cheese fruit filled, Linzer (which were a pain!), and because I accidentally made the chocolate recipe instead of the peanut butter recipe the first time around, we also made chocolate peppermint blossoms (pictured below). Grant read car magazines for 2 days straight, but would come in to be our photographer when I needed :)
Chocolate thumbprints. Chocolate+chocolate=yum! The cookie has some bittersweet in it, and the ganache is sweet, so its a perfect couple.
A spin on the classic homemade oreo. Added a little peppermint flavor to the cream cheese frosting and rolled in sprinkles. A new fan favorite.
The cream cheese jam filled cookies...not too hard to make but a little more involved. Very cool looking and tasty though.
...all folded up with sugar on top!...
We cut and wrapped a million caramels.
And then on Wednesday when Holly got home, we made her specialty, the "cake pop." We did balls (ornaments), trees, and Santa hats. They turned out pretty cute and were a nice addition to the top of the plates.
Santa hat before we added the marshmallow puff ball to the top :)
A forest of Christmas trees...Mom and Karleigh adding glitter to the rim of the Santa hats...
And here I am showcasing all 3 designs.
And the finished product! Plates FULL of goodies :)
