It was amazing to see the difference in landscape. I think you just get used to wherever you live. I remember coming to Kentucky and being amazed by how green it was. Now that just seems normal to me. I hardly noticed the mountains anymore after living in Utah for 6 years, but going back, I loved them again! They have such a presence and are remarkable!
-The first night...we had some of my Rose cousins over for dinner and made some delicious fajitas. It was fun to catch up, as it had been a long time since I had seen them! -Eating out was one of the things I was most excited about as there are a few places I have missed since leaving Utah. Cafe Rio with my sisters....SO good! Karleigh and I split a pork salad and the nachos (a "new" menu item) which did not disappoint.
-Monday (before I got sick), I went for a run around the perimeter of campus and was overwhelmed by the number of memories I have there...it was a lot of fun. Later in the day I decided to stop by the bookstore and found this shirt that I knew some of my UK friends would love (you know who you are!) The shirt was still ridiculously priced at $15, so sorry, didn't come home with shirts for you.
-I was sad that I didn't get to see everyone and do everything that I had planned, but sitting on the couch most nights was more enticing. Luckily my sisters were there to keep me company :)-I did venture out on Wednesday to Park City with Jenny and her new baby Bode! I was so glad I got to see her and meet the new little man. We stopped for lunch in Heber on the way up at Dairy Keen (not Queen)-where they had these awesome new drink machines! Touch screen with over 100 different options...I want one at home ;) Not sure how this random little burger place in Heber got hooked up with 3 of these machines, but I'm not complaining.
Once in Park City, the shopping was awesome (we were both quite successful!) and the company was even better...we are good shopping buddies-but unfortunately didn't get any pics together :(
-Had another fun and delicious dinner with Mat and Jen (my favorite Thai place in Orem).-Did some shopping with the sisters and found a dress for $30 to replace one I had bought for $130 a couple weeks before (and luckily hadn't worn yet...)
-Took Zicam and DayQuil like candy TRYING to feel better (but was unsuccessful as this was a crazy long lasting illness and I finally felt normal yesterday for the first time!)
-Tim and Tricia were SO kind and allowed me to borrow Tim's car while I was there. Tim left for business the day I arrived, which allowed me to be mobile and not have to rely on anyone else. On Friday, I went and spent some time with Tricia and my cute little nephews.
-Gavin-crazy how big he has gotten...he is a little person now! We had a good time eating Muddy Buddies, watching Ice Age, going to Costco, looking at his shell collection, etc.
-Saturday was the triplet's b-day party, but it requires a post of its own...
I am SO glad you came to visit and even more glad that I got to spend almost an entire day with you! J.Crew outlet rocked! I am wearing one of my sequins tanks right now in fact :) Corny, but I was getting choked up when you left because I miss having you here! Thanks for making time for me during your trip!!
ReplyDeleteawesome trip, so jealous! great food, company, shopping..all fabulous. sorry you got sick though!
ReplyDeleteI loved having you. I'm sad you got sick but it gave us more time together so I can't complain too much! Also good thing you were able to borrow the car since mine decided to have a hose break like 2 days before you got here!
