We found out that Grant passed part 2 of boards! (the final written boards test which will enable him to graduate). Grant finished school at noon and went home, knowing that some of his classmates which had taken the test on the same day had received their results that day. Grant is the type of person that worries RARELY, so although I wanted him to go home immediately and open it I knew he would probably make me open it when I got home after work that night. I texted to ask if he had received it, to which he replied, "I haven't checked yet, I'm watching a movie and don't want to interrupt this good part." Around 6 pm he told me he had checked the mail and it was indeed there, and he would bring the envelope when he picked me up from work at 7. So, for the last hour of work, I worried (because that's what I'm good at doing), annoyed that it doesn't bother him and thinking it is so weird that he could sit there with unopened results for that long (I think I was spoiled by the testing center at BYU and being able to immediately see results to my tests). I sat down in the car, saw that the envelope had been opened, and he (with a sad face) told me to look for myself. Despite his sad face, I knew at that moment he had passed. I looked, he passed, and we both screamed with excitement :) This was his big last step towards graduation and something he had spent a long time studying for. Once again, so ready to get rid of this insane number of flashcards!
Tuesday:
This was my last day off before school started. Instead of doing something exciting, I deep cleaned the house (which I guess in some ways is exciting). I can't go on vacation, start a busy week, etc without the peace of mind that the house will be clean when I get home! After Grant got home we ran a few errands and celebrated his boards scores with some custard at Culvers!
Wednesday:
My LAST first day of school!!! It's going to be an intense and crazy 8 weeks, but after that I am DONE with class :) It was a beautiful day! Wore cropped jeans, flats and a 3/4 sleeve cardigan, weather welcome here in January! This semester will be difficult but I'm excited about the subject matter so I think it will be pretty good!
Thursday:
Our beautiful weather turned in to FREEZING temps and snow/ice. The weather here is crazy. After a day of EKG interpretation and waiting for Grant to finish in clinic, I braved the slick roads and went to my indoor soccer game. I play on a team with some nurses, residents, etc from the ER, and although we don't often win, it's still a lot of fun and a really good workout. It is amazing how different soccer is than just running. Even when I'm in half marathon shape, soccer still kicks my butt!
Friday:
Happy HALF birthday to me! Because I am a summer baby, growing up I always celebrated my half birthday with cupcakes, etc at school. So, this is still a momentous day for me each year (although I unfortunately didn't have enough time to make cupcakes to share with the 75 people in my class :) My "present" from Grant was a permanent filling in the tooth I got the root canal in over Christmas break.
Saturday:
I worked a 12-hour shift (and was assigned to trauma-which is the "typical" emergency room scene-car accidents, falls, etc)-always very interesting. It was a very slow day, but every time I work, I am so grateful for my health. Grant picked me up at 7, I went home and showered all my work nastiness off of me, and then we went out to Smashing Tomato for dinner to finally really celebrate the events of the week!

YEAH!! Congrats Grant and I can't believe you REALLY had your last day Taryn.
ReplyDeleteVery exciting!!! Cool to see Grant working on your tooth. So cool he could fill that up for you. You are truly in the home stretch!
