We have arrived!

Thursday morning we left Gilbert around 6am and headed to our final destination! We were sort of sad to be in separate cars as we entered California, and especially as we got into Oceanside, but it made me even more grateful that we were able to drive most of the trip together. May 17 was my Grandpa's 96th birthday and since we happened to drive right by his house on our way to move in, we decided to stop and get him a piece of Costco pizza and stop by for a short visit and to sing Happy Birthday! It was sweet to see the joy that brought him and was exciting to finally be living close to family again.

I got really nervous driving into Oceanside, as we didn't know what quite to expect. We had signed a lease but hadn't even seen the condo or even really been to Oceanside before. We met the property manager, she showed us around our unit and we knew we had made a good decision. The condo is as nice or nicer than I had anticipated, and the view is beyond words. I cannot believe that this is where we live now, it's amazing.

Pictured below: 1) the crated truck: all of these were FULL of our stuff-you can see the scooter and my bike parked out front. 2) the first truck that came-also FULL of our stuff. Made me grateful someone else was doing all the work. 3) unpacking crazy boxes of dishes in the kitchen- SO much paper. Grant and I unpacked as they brought boxes in so that we could send empty ones away. It was interesting to see how they packed everything. My favorite discovery was a koozie double wrapped in paper. Pretty sure a foam drink cover isn't going to break! (if anything it adds more cushion for the other stuff) 4) empty boxes piled outside ready to be loaded back in their truck
1) Grant hiding in the saran wrapped couch. The movers walked in on him hiding, it was pretty funny. 2) I said someone else was doing all the work, but I had a very important job too...I was the bookkeeper. These papers are the inventory of everything we owned that was moved out of our house in Lexington and I checked it off as the movers brought it in. 3) one of my greatest accomplishments of the weekend-getting the kitchen unpacked and put away. Kitchens are already hard, made worse by the fact that it had to be pretty because there are SO many glass front cabinets. 4) LOVING the fresh fruit here...we have been eating out for weeks now and it is so nice to be settled, have a kitchen and get to eat yummy fresh stuff again!
More fun to come I'm sure...but we have arrived safe and sound, are somewhat settled, and ready to enjoy everything Oceanside has to offer!
