FIFTEEN MONTHS!

Like each month before, this month has flown by...Rowan continues to get cuter, more fun and more challenging all at the same time! I'm grateful for this little family of mine though, we have a good time together :) With my crazy work schedule, Grant has really had to take over a lot of extra dad responsibilities, and he has done a fantastic job. I am also so grateful for Alexa who takes amazing care of Rowan while we are both at work...I'm pretty sure that if she ever quits I'm going to have to quit too :) Since I'm gone more than I would like to be, we try to take full advantage of all of our time together. This presents a challenge in that I like to go out and have fun, find fun adventures, etc. But, there is also this house that needs tending to, so I'm still working on finding a good balance for everything. However, I can honestly say I feel like it's working...I'm not sure how, but we're making it happen and we're doing it with a smile (most of the time :)

Rowan had his 15-month checkup yesterday. He weighs 23 lbs (39th percentile) and is 30.5 inches tall (31st percentile). And..he has quite the brain on his shoulders with his head measuring at a solid 73rd percentile :)

This month Rowan has turned into a little tornado! If you turn your back for a second, he can have an entire drawer emptied out, have thrown 3 things in the toilet (there was a shirt, toothbrush and stuffed animal thrown in one day!), and his favorite thing is to take everything out of the recycling bin or throw things in the trash (even if they shouldn't be in there). His climbing has also reached new levels this month. He can climb up on EVERYTHING. One day Grant was doing the dishes and turned around to see Rowan standing on the kitchen table pouring salt out of the shaker :) I told you, there's nothing this kid can't get into these days. Because of this, we also lowered his crib mattress all of the way down to the lowest level to try to avoid him climbing out of it.
He is developing a little bit more stranger anxiety, especially when he comes to visit me at work. I think he has a little hospital phobia (although he does like running around and hid in the meal cart the other day when he was there ;) It is fun to watch him play with other kids now as he is becoming a bit more social. He will share (and take away) toys and at church he likes to share his snacks with the other kids.

He loves books, especially ones that have flaps to lift, or some sort of activity on the page. We are working on learning body parts and he can point to his belly button and my belly button :)  Speech is the only thing that seems to be a little delayed with him. He follows commands like a champ, will go grab specific toys we ask him to, will throw away trash when we ask, etc. but he still isn't saying much besides "dog" (and he is starting to say that for pretty much every animal, although he gets really excited about dogs, even shisa dog statues which are everywhere here!) He will see them out the window of the car and start pointing and yelling dog. He recently became fascinated with airplanes too and loves to watch them fly overhead, which happens quite frequently here.

He continues to love the water and enjoys our little pool in the yard as well as the ocean. He has no fear when it comes to water, which is not necessarily good, but we keep a close eye on him and he does a good job!
(yes, Rowan is actually in this picture below...can you spot him? :)

We're excited to see what this next month has in store for us!
