Botanical Gardens and beach fun

I am so excited because we have been awaiting Holly and Jonny's trip out here for months now! They finally arrived on Tuesday afternoon and we have been trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible (considering I still have to work). Yesterday both Grant and I had off and the weather was perfect so we headed to the Botanical Gardens in the morning and beach in the afternoon. It was perfect!
We had only been to the Botanical Gardens once, and it was at night last year to see the Christmas lights. This was our first time during the day, and we had heard that you could feed spider monkeys...which was our main motivation for going :)

The little enclosure had capybaras and spider monkeys. Rowan had a great time with the cute little capybara. He loved feeding it cabbage and really had no fear. However, the monkeys freaked him out a bit. They were fast moving and jumping all over us.
Very apprehensive...
"Chip, I'm gonna come at you like a spider monkey"...I now know what that means :)
Rowan LOVES doing "bunny" in sign language. He does it like crazy when we read a book with bunnies, so he was SUPER excited to see one in real life and got to use his sign language :)
He also liked feeding the tortoise. He's a little more into slow moving animals right now, however, this tortoise was all over the place!
Walking through the gardens...it was a gorgeous day and it's near the air force base so Rowan was excited to watch the planes fly overhead.
Grab the bull by the horns!
Riding our little toads...
After the Botanical Gardens, we went to Hungry tacos for lunch and then headed to Maeda Flats for some beach time and snorkeling. Holly and I got pedicures the day before which as always turned out SO cute! Just putting this out there...I pay for an amazing Okinawan pedicure for anyone who comes to visit :)
Rowan, in his element. Such a beach kid.
Grant, Jonny and Holly snorkeled while Rowan and I paddle boarded around. It was perfect. The water is much colder than it was in the summer (although still warmer than the California ocean), so not as much fun for Rowan to float around in. The paddle board works great though.
Such a fabulous day...hoping for several more in the next 2 weeks! Grateful to be able to spend this time with them :)
