Monday we did a lot of shopping...and it was SO much fun :) Just walking into Target made me happier than it probably should have! But I slowly walked through the aisles and enjoyed. We also hit up the mall that day and bought a picture by our favorite Hawaiian artist, Heather Brown. I decided it was PERFECT for the boys' room!
Tuesday was my cardiology consult. I was slightly nervous thinking it must be bad if they sent me all of the way to see the doctor. There had been talk about making me stay there to deliver, etc. before I left Okinawa. So I wasn't super nervous because I've had this problem for a long time, but I was also nervous to definitively get a diagnosis. Rowan may have found a future career, he was cuddling with this heart and trying to kiss it. Weird kid but it was pretty cute ;)
My cardiology visit was short and sweet. We talked about the results of my Holter and echo, he assured me that he didn't foresee me having any real complications during my pregnancy. The condition will probably continue to get worse and I'll probably need an ablation somewhere down the road, but I was already anticipating this so wasn't surprised at all. All in all it was good news and I was almost shocked that I was actually IN Hawaii for it versus just having a teleconsult. He did finally put a stethoscope on my chest (something that could not have been done from another country), so that legitimized the trip :) I left there feeling like I could totally enjoy the "vacation" now that I didn't have that appointment to worry about at all. The only thing we were waiting on at that point was an ultrasound of baby, which they scheduled for the following Wednesday (yes, such bad planning but totally awesome too!) We met with the case worker after my appointment and there was talk about trying to move up the ultrasound since cardiology wasn't doing any further tests. We hoped it wouldn't happen but also knew it was probably what should happen. Long story short, Friday morning they called and said they had an appt that afternoon. So, our trip got shortened by a few days, but we were packing in the fun so it was all ok.
I'm so glad you are ok and this trip to Hawaii was a major perk. Stay healthy! Xo
