My birthday this year was on a Monday, and since Grant has a bunch of leave he needs to use before he loses it, we decided to have him take a 4 day weekend. However, Typhoon Chan-Hom decided to make an appearance on Friday, which meant he got a FIVE day weekend! Yay :) We had a fun weekend together inside for the typhoon and then on Monday the celebration really started. Grant let me sleep in a bit (a huge blessing with a toddler that thinks the day should start at 5:30am). We then ate breakfast, hung out for a bit and headed to the mall. I didn't really buy anything for myself, but the fact that Grant took both boys so I could walk around and look at things without having to worry about them was wonderful! Rowan is way too big for the Baby Bjorn, but we didn't have anything else in the car and it actually worked really well. It was sort of hilarious, I couldn't stop laughing when I looked at them.
After shopping, we headed down to the sea wall where we met The Remedios'. Dom and Grant took all the kids while Barb and I relaxed for 1.5 hours getting a pedicure. As always, it was fantastic. I got caught up on work gossip, talked about our crazy two year olds, and planned some trips together while we got our feet and legs massaged and toes delicately painted.
Afterwards, we met Rhonda at Bella Napoli for some pizza. As always it was delicious and we ate way more than we needed (but a birthday is an excellent excuse to eat :) It was funny that exactly 8 weeks before this, these two awesome girls were in a hospital room with me, encouraging me and helping while I had Boden!
And to finish off the night...a leisurely stroll along the sea wall. I'm a lucky girl and I we started this year off right!
The weather on my birthday wasn't great for a beach day (that dang typhoon hung around a little too long), but luckily Grant had taken Tuesday off too which was beautiful. So, we headed to the beach just a mile north of us for some swimming and playing. The ocean was still pretty choppy so we couldn't paddle board, but Rowan and Grant had some fun playing in the waves (which is kind of a rare thing around these parts!)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
