The morning of Boden's birthday, Rowan and Boden both climbed in bed with me and I said, "Happy Birthday Boden!" They looked at each other realizing Boden was now 3 and Rowan said, "You look bigger today Boden! We need to go wrestle in the basement. I bet you're stronger and faster now!" And they ran off to go do that!
What a fun and feisty 3 year old this kid is!
On his birthday, we dropped Rowan off at school and I let Boden choose what we were going to go do. We opted to go feed fish at the Rio lake and then went and looked at books at Barnes and Noble when it started sprinkling a little bit. The weather definitely didn't cooperate but it worked out anyways. Then, I asked him what he wanted for lunch, and the only thing he said he wanted was broccoli and shrimp (I love that my kids love all food). When I couldn't deliver that where we were, he decided on mac n cheese at Corner Bakery. Unfortunately, he started not feeling good at that point, and barely ate anything, and had a fever by the time we got home. I gave him some Tylenol and then we went to pick up Rowan and then my parents from the airport!
Boden chose Cafe Rio for dinner...and wanted a pie to celebrate, but then didn't end up eating any of his quesadilla, or pie. But he ate half the cup of queso with a ton of chips and REALLY wanted his own cup of diet coke (luckily they have caffeine free there so I obliged this once for the birthday boy). He is VERY excited to be 3 (I think Rowan's excitement to be 5 rubbed off on him a little), but it is really cute.
Boden is a fun little guy! He is just the right amount of crazy. He is mostly fearless (but usually not to the point of being reckless), tries so hard to keep up with Rowan (and mostly succeeds), has an adorable little voice with a huge vocabulary, is very quick to forgive and will almost always give in to Rowan's ridiculous tantrums giving him what he wants to make his best friend/brother happy, loves to pee outside, gives lots of kisses when he accidentally hurts you, "likes hot stuff", goes through phases of loving potty talk, naps about 4-5 days a week, and is becoming increasingly independent with wanting to dress himself, etc. He is a pro on his balance bike (and learned to ride a 2-wheel bike when Rowan got his 4 days after his birthday).
Such mixed emotions watching him grow up! I knew from the beginning he was going to be a wild one...he's been crushing milestones from the beginning.
