A few weeks ago we decided to head up to Philadelphia on a Saturday to attend the temple and explore the city a little. We were disappointed to find out that the DC temple was going to be closed for 2 years (almost exactly the time frame that we are here). So, getting to the temple hasn't been easy, so we picked a day and made it happen. We met the Shawvers there and took turns doing a session and watching kids. We looked crazy with all these kids at the little tiny visitors center across the way, but it went really well.
It is a gorgeous temple, fairly new, nestled in the midst of the city.
We watched kids first...like I said, there were a lot of them!
We let them play tablets for the first half...
And then we played paper airplanes on the stairs for a long time
The style of the temple inside and out was beautiful. I'm grateful we got a chance to go.
Afterwards we too advantage of our free temple parking and walked to grab some lunch and see a few sights. It was chilly but luckily sunny which made it not too bad.
We ate at Steve's Prince of Steaks and tried one with provolone and one with cheese whiz. Both of them were delicious!
YUM YUM!
After lunch we bought some candy as a treat and did a little sightseeing on our way back to the car. Found some yarn bombing on the bike racks
And since we were over 2 hours from home, we decided to find a hotel and spend the night so it could be a fun little "vacation". The kids LOVE hotel pools so we found a hotel with a pool and a breakfast and we were good to go.
We swam for awhile when we got there that night before getting some Dominos for dinner. Pizza and a movie on the bed...these kids have it good.

And since we can't get enough pool time, we swam again the next morning after breakfast before hitting up Sacrament meeting at a random church on our way home and then heading home.
Thanks for the good times Philly
