Christmas cookies
In an attempt to get to get to know our neighbors better (since we spent the first 4 months of our time here in nasty work clothes and only showering ever few days, trying to avoid people because most of the time we were covered in paint, drywall mud or dirt) we decided taking them Christmas cookies would be a good way to break the ice. We know a few of our neighbors fairly well and gave them treats as well, but it gave us a good opportunity to get to know them all a little better.
This year I made Molasses Ginger cookies (which are so soft and good), "Russian teacakes", also known as "Mexican wedding cakes" aka butter, sugar and pecans covered in powdered sugar, lemon bars and peppermint bark (the kind with both dark and white chocolate-like Williams Sonoma and Crate and Barrel-only cheaper since I made it). There were a few other things on my list that I was going to make but decided not to overdo it. This gave us plenty. I wish I could bring cookies to you all but proximity and time make things a little difficult. I know it's not nearly as good but here is a virtual plate of cookies to all of my friends and family out there :)

Your lucky neighbors! I'd love to know how to make peppermint bark as I just about have to commit a crime to keep paying for my Wms Sonoma p-bark fix!

Jeff says to say thanks for the virtual cookies. They look very good and he is sure they would have tasted wonderful as well! As always, you amaze me with your cooking skills. Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI feel like I got a treat but didn't gain the weight! :) Thanks for the virtual cookies. I wish I had the motivation right now to make my neighbors cookies, but that is just not happening. I don't think I would bring them cookies anyway. Mean, I know, but we are tired of their late night fiestas!
ReplyDeleteWill you share your Molasses cookie recipe with me???
ReplyDeleteYou good neighbor you! I will miss your holiday goodies this year-- they look amazing. We took around some of our neighbor and friend gifts last night. If you were here you would be getting cherry apricot jam and a loaf of Kneaders bread!
