1. Wrapping paper or gift bags? Wrapping paper with big beautiful bows. The presentation under the tree is half the fun (and adds to the decor of the room).2. Real tree or Artificial? Real, I have to have the scent of fresh pine in my living room.
3. When do you put up the tree? Day after Thanksgiving.
4. When do you take the tree down? Around New Years, no specific date.5. Do you like Egg Nog? I try it every year thinking, "This is the year I'll like it." And, with enough milk to dilute it I enjoy about one glass a year. I guess it's a blessing since it's not the healthiest of holiday treats.
6. Favorite gift received as a child? My red bike and awesome pogo stick (and this is why California Christmases are so great, you can go out and play).7. Hardest person to buy for? My dad is pretty hard but Grant is getting a bit harder, not because of lack of things that he wants, he's just getting pickier :)
8. Easiest person to buy for? Myself :)9. Do you have a nativity scene? Yes, the Willow Tree set.
10. Mail or email Christmas cards? Mail.11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received? Hmmm... can't think of one right now.
12. Favorite Christmas Movie? Elf and the original cartoon Grinch.13. When do you start shopping for Christmas? Around Thanksgiving. Whenever I start seeing things people might want.
14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present? I don't think so.15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas? So many things... to list a few: peppermint hot chocolate, brie and crackers, all sorts of dips. I do eat a lot of sweets at Christmas but as a general rule I prefer "real" food to desserts.
16. Lights on the tree? White.17. Favorite Christmas song? Oh Holy Night and Mariah Carey "All I Want for Christmas is You"
18. Travel at Christmas or stay home? San Diego here we come.19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer? Of course, there's a song to help remember them.
20. Angel on the tree top or a star? Awesome silver star courtesy of after Christmas sales at Pottery Barn a few years ago.21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or morning? Christmas morning except for PJs on Eve.
22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year? How quickly it's over.23. Favorite ornament theme or color? Red, silver and bright green.
24. Favorite for Christmas dinner? Christmas Eve dinner at Randy and Cindy's with so much amazing food (turkey, ham, rolls, potatoes, fruit soup, veggies, salad, etc). Then we do it all over on Christmas day at Joan's but usually have some sort of beef with all the sides :)25. Favorite family Christmas tradition? Decorating the tree, making goodies and delivering to neighbors, and everything that happens Christmas Eve and Day! Can't forget the advent calendar either (which has lost a little bit of it's magic since I moved out but I will revive it when I have kids).
Sure do the Christmas one...I still want to know the weird things! I can't wait to see you at Christmas! By the way I got a little over excited about weather and already checked San Diego around Christmas, 66 and sunny!
ReplyDeleteI'll forgive you for not liking egg nog :) And I want the Willow Tree Nativity.
ReplyDeleteCan you e-mail me your address for a Christmas card?

Thanks! Can't wait to see you guys!
We got your mom and dad's Christmas card today and it was great catching up on you all. You have a beautiful home! Have fun in Kentucky. You are kind of where we all were when we met in Davis 20 some years ago. Wow! Danny is at UCSD(and LOVES San Diego) but will be here in Albuquerque for Christmas. And my mother's family came from Shepherdsville, KT. How paths do cross. Merry Christmas to you both.
ReplyDeleteI'm with ya on the eggnog. I "water" it down too and half a glass is plenty! I did try "chocolate nog" last year and it was better!
ReplyDeleteElden goes through a gallon of egg nog each week. He's been guzzling it since they put it on the shelves after Canadian Thanksgiving. I think it's great because he needs to bulk up, except of course he doesn't gain a single pound. Men.
