I "inherited" a very large, very cool sea urchin from my aunt Joan's house a couple of months ago. We like our house to feel like we live closer to the ocean than we actually do (kind of like dressing for the job you want...we have our house decorated for where we want to live). Anyway, we had it proudly displayed on the mantle when one day, the door got closed a bit too hard and it fell from above the fireplace, shattering into MANY pieces. I thought we would just need to through it away, but living with the problem solver that I do, he decided to take on the task of putting it back together! CSI Layton is what I call him today, as whenever someone on CSI is putting together a shattered bottle, etc. I comment on how tedious and terrible the chore seems. Grant did at one point wish he had their technology, so he could number and photograph each piece and it would then virtually put it together for him, but in the 2 hours that I worked today, he was able to put the entire thing back together, and you can barely tell it had ever been broken.

There are only a few very small holes on the back (where I think the pieces were just obliterated when they hit the hearth). I have it sitting on the table in front of me and it looks as good as new. Good work CSI Grant!
I have to admit Grant, you are one talented man. How did you ever find each other? You are such a pair of telent-ed-ness
ReplyDeleteGrant, you are amazing. Anytime something needs fixing around her, we always wish that Grant was nearby. Taryn you are amazing too and you complement each other so well.
ReplyDeleteNo freakin' way!
ReplyDeleteFirst: I can't believe anyone would look at that shattered mess and even think they could put it back together.
Second: Oh my gosh! It was actually put back together and you can't tell it was ever broken.
AMAZING!
Way to go Grant! That's dang impressive!
ReplyDeletewow...i'm so impressed! that is pretty amazing, seriously! i think i want to break something just so you can put it together again...LOL! too cool.
