It has been way too long since I have attended a concert, so you can imagine my excitement when I drove onto base a couple weeks ago and saw a sign for a FREE Phil Vassar concert. Country concerts are one of my favorite kind, and I had seen Phil Vassar when he opened for Tim McGraw at my first concert when I was 16.
So...last night we attended a Phil Vassar concert, thanks to Operation Gratitude. Before they let people inside, there was an outdoor area with music and booths (not really my cowboy hat, just tried it on :) overlooking the sunset. Pretty incredible.
I thought it was going to be a much bigger event, but I was really excited to see how intimate the venue was. It took place in a ballroom, so was very small so all the seats were great. We got in pretty early so had really awesome seats (and of course everyone got up and was dancing around by the end anyways).
In the beginning (and after just about every song) he thanked everyone for their service. I have really become much more patriotic and thankful now that we are a part of the military and have attended so many more military events. He explained that this was "our night" and he had no specific playlist and was going to play whatever we wanted. He played all his famous songs as well as several popular ones that he had written for other artists. It was awesome!

And again, another reason the small concert was awesome! We got to meet and take pics with him at the end of the concert! Hanging out with Phil on a Thursday night :)
Thank you Operation Gratitude, we had a great night!
PS-In an unrelated topic...anyone notice anything different about Grant? :)

So jealous! I used to love Phil Vassar! Mark will soon be joining Grant with the brace face. His broken jaw really messed up his bottom teeth. Gotta have good teeth though if you're gonna be a dentist!
ReplyDeleteBraces huh? So funny to see how everyone gets them. Hope he doesn't have them long.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fun time and so wonderful for artists to give of their gifts like he did. You really should have a cowboy hat, it looks so cute on you.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you really enjoyed the concert. I see Grant finally got braces. :)
ReplyDeleteTaryn you look so tan!!! I'm jealous! And Grant hope the braces are treating you alright!
