9 wonderful years

We started out our anniversary with an early morning ultrasound appointment, getting to see our little guy :) I was measuring a little small at my appt last week, so they wanted to take a look and make sure he was still growing like normal...and he was :) It was a great start to the day! Now we're ready to see him in real life :)

This is seriously one of the only years we've actually planned and celebrated our anniversary (it only took 9 years)! Apparently the first of May has not been a good time for us to celebrate in the past. We have always been moving, in finals, crazy time at work, etc. Now that we have settled into "adult" life, we were able to actually make plans and carry them out! It was nice to have this year to celebrate since next year we'll have to worry about babysitters, etc :) When Grant got home from work we took off to enjoy the gorgeous May Day!

Our dinner reservations weren't until 6:45, so on our way down to San Diego we stopped in La Jolla and watched the paragliders. It actually looked like so much fun. I'm a pretty risk averse person when it comes to extreme sports type stuff, but I think I would actually really enjoy this!

Who wouldn't want to fly over a view like this?!
We were excited to celebrate our anniversary in San Diego because it's where we got married 9 years ago! We have lived in Utah and Kentucky since then. We thought the perfect way to celebrate would be to go back to the restaurant where we had our wedding reception! It has a beautiful view of the harbor and San Diego skyline, and we hadn't been back since our wedding day.
We arrived a little bit early so spent a few minutes walking around and reminiscing :)
We enjoyed a delicious dinner of sea bass (catch of the day) and mahi mahi with a side of mashed potatoes.

We ordered fairly light, saving room for dessert, but unfortunately the dessert menu didn't quite have what we wanted. Grant told the waiter that he had his heart set on chocolate (how did they have nothing chocolate on their dessert menu), so we were going to pass on dessert for the night. He came back a few minutes later with this piece of chocolate cake with fruit and said he couldn't let us celebrate our anniversary without dessert :) It was a perfect little treat to share (not to mention it was free!)
It still didn't quite fill up the dessert space in Grant's stomach, so we stopped by Cheesecake Factory on the way home and picked up a piece of his favorite, lemon raspberry (I guess the dinner dessert satisfied his chocolate craving, just not his dessert craving ;)

Before leaving, we took a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful view of the city from the balcony at the restaurant. Grant brought his tripod so got some cool shots.
A little fuzzy (because I couldn't hold still!) but showing off the 37.5 week baby belly :)
Happy Anniversary to my favorite man in the entire world! So grateful to be married to him :) Love our life together!

...and 9 years later...these pics were taken in almost the same spot :)
