Cookie decorating and Santa!

Barb and Dom invited us over to decorate sugar cookies with them on Saturday and we thought that sounded like a fun idea! I stopped and got the kids matching aprons and antlers and then we headed over in the morning for some cookie fun ;) We had such a good time!

Helping him frost the cookie so he could decorate it.
Then things got serious and we decided that the apron was not enough to fully protect this kid from colorful frosting :) So, like we do for every meal, this kid went shirtless :)
I was actually surprised what a good job he did decorating! I thought he would immediately just eat everything, but he actually methodically put red hots and sprinkles on his frosted cookies...and of course, then proceeded to eat them. So cute!

The adults had fun too! Dom's reindeer was the winner of the creativity challenge.
Finger lickin' good!
My favorite picture of the day!
After cookie decorating, we headed down to the park to burn off some calories (we all ate a lot of cookies), and to tire the kids out!
Ready, set, race!
After that, we did a little shopping on base and then let Rowan nap in the car while we ran a few more errands and then went to "Tinsel Town" to see the big tree and Santa.
The Santa line was long, but we had some time to kill before Grant's work kid's Christmas party, so we decided to wait. I think Rowan was cold for the first time in his life. He insisted on being held, and would tuck his arms in between him and me and then rest his head on my shoulder cuddling in as close as possible. i can't blame him, it was a chilly 64 degrees (with no sun :) It seriously did feel a little cold, haha.
We went to peak at Santa through the window when we got close...Rowan got shy.
And he REFUSED to sit on Santa's lap! I tried to put him down and he screamed and clinged to me as tight as possible. So, I decided to hold him, but even then he wouldn't look at the camera, just stared back at Santa to make sure nothing was going to happen.
After that, we headed over to the USO for the children's party. We ate pizza and fruit and there was another (much less realistic looking Santa). Rowan still wasn't a huge fan, but had some time to check him out and obliged to sitting on his lap :) I definitely didn't get a picturesque Santa photo, but I guess it captured the essence of his feelings towards the old man.
All in all a very festival and fabulous day!
