Grant decided that the night before Thanksgiving (a Thanksgiving that we were hosting!) sounded like a good time to decapitate, gut, and filet his tuna. Although I was glad to not have 3 enormous tuna floating in my bathtub full of ice anymore, I was not excited for the bloody mess in my kitchen when I had pies to make! (wow, the more I think about this story, the better wife I feel like I am :) The fact that he has a mustache alone makes me feel like a good wife ;)
For Thanksgiving this year, they had a large dinner at church and since we are in charge of the young single adults thought we might go there and take the guys, but that's not my favorite way to spend holidays. I prefer the more intimate in-home dinner, so we found rides for all the guys that wanted to go and decided to have our friends the Remedios' over (I work with her at the hospital). It was a fabulous low key and delicious dinner. We split up the meal and it wasn't overwhelming at all!
In the morning before our annual Thanksgiving morning run, Rowan and Grant helped me mix up some rolls. Rowan is actually really well behaved while I'm cooking if I let him stand up with me on a chair. It took awhile to figure this out, but it's so nice now. And, the best news of the day...this was the last picture of Grant with a mustache! He decided to step up his game as a husband and shave it off for me a few days early :)
And since we really never seem to use our toaster oven and he's obsessed with it, we stuck it down in the corner of the kitchen and it's one of his new favorite spots to play. It works great!
They came over late afternoon after naptime and we enjoyed our delicious, simple dinner with great conversation and lots of laughing at the kids.
The kids couldn't wait so they got to start before the rest of us. It was so cute to see them sitting at each of of such a big table eating their Thanksgiving Feast!
The obligatory plate picture. I love Thanksgiving food. Unfortunately I couldn't find my maternity pants anywhere that day so had to wear my regular jeans! Oh well :) I have located them now and will be ready for Christmas dinner!
We finished with dessert on the patio in the perfect weather. It's gross here during the summer, but it sure is amazing this time of year. We are loving it!
I have so much to be thankful for and love that we have this day to truly reflect on all of our blessings!
