Celebrating 11 years!

Every time I mention to someone that it is our anniversary, they ask how long we've been married. And...it seems that year after year they continue to be surprised by just how long it's been! 11 YEARS! It's kind of hard to believe for me too...I've been married over a third of my life now! However, I wouldn't have it any other way. I am still so happily in love with this guy though. We are pretty terrible at celebrating our anniversary, but this year we decided we were actually going to go out and do something. So, we went out without Rowan (which we don't do very often) and set out on an afternoon date.
We started at the Gala and made our own Okinawa salt. It starts as water from the ocean that is condensed down 7x so that it is 21% salt. Then we finished the process by boiling off all the water until pure salt appeared. It was actually pretty fun, took about 40 mins from start to finish.
We each got to pick out a pot to put our finished product in...and then we filled it and covered it.
Next on the agenda was glass blowing. We have watched a lot of it here as it's a popular art form in Okinawa, but haven't actually tried it yet. We decided to each make a glass, blue with white dots. We had A LOT of help...they still pretty much make the whole thing but you get to blow it in the beginning and then roll it out into the glass shape. The rolling part was harder than I thought it would be, but both of ours turned out pretty good!
Then we tried a place we hadn't been before, Sea Garden, which is right on the seawall. We had perfect weather, an amazing view and delicious food! The fancy drinks and cheese fondue were awesome! It was fun to have several hours to ourselves and celebrate this amazing life we continue to build together.
HAPPY 11 years to my man.
