Reunion day 1-Newport

This year to celebrate Grant's parent's 50th wedding anniversary, and to get together with his entire family, we planned a trip to meet up in Orange County for a few days. Grant had one week off (in these 2 entire years) and we were lucky that it happened to work out for everyone else too! We met Wednesday evening and played in the pool and went to bed, prepared for fun with everyone the next day. This was the first time we had all been together in over 5 years (before Rowan was even born!)
Thursday we planned to spend the day in Newport. I got a recommendation from my cousin Audra (who lives in the area) to check out Lighthouse park, so on a whim we decided to go, and it was perfect! We spent the entire day there. We had a shaded picnic table, a huge grass area, a fun park and a beach on the bay with paddle board rentals. It made for a great first day together!
We were even walking distance to tacos for lunch :)
Some intense frisbee games to begin the day...
After morning at the park and on the grass, we ate lunch and then headed to the beach. Bays are always a little grosser to swim in than the ocean, but are also great for kids to be able to just float and play. The boys loved just floating on the boogie boards and playing in the sand with cousins. It was great.
Brothers! Weird to think my 3 boys will be this age someday :)
And of course, the craziness has to come out when they all get together. Surprisingly, no one got hurt.
And then we rented paddle boards. The guys went out for the first half and the girls for the second half. Boden went out with Grant and then Rowan with me. They both stood up for most of the time and loved it.
This was the perfect way to begin our reunion. Lots of time to play and talk together!
