4th of July

After our great trip to So. Cal I decided to head north to my parents with the kids. So on Sunday, Grant flew back to MD and I flew up to Davis with the boys. My sisters worked it out so that they could each be home for a few days of that first week, which was so much fun. We all got to be together for the 4th of July!
We decided to start the day with something I remember doing growing up, a bike parade! The kids decorated their bikes and we went downtown to ride in the short, but sweet kids bike parade. We didn't have a bike Boden's size at the house, but since he's been riding so much I knew he wouldn't be happy on the strider the whole time we were there, so the first day we were there we went to a thrift store and bought one for $4.60! All we had to do was pump up the tires. It was pink and faded and the plastic was cracking a little, but he didn't care at all and it worked perfectly for our entire trip. The back tire blew out AFTER our last ride on the last day. Perfect timing ;)
Cute patriotic kids and bikes
Classic watermelon shots
The Andersons came over in the afternoon for a delicious BBQ and to hang out for awhile, and then we headed over to the park for fireworks!
Rowan has been wanting to try cotton candy for some time now, so I thought this would be the perfect chance. We waited in line forever, got 2 sticks of it, and they each ate a few bites and decided they didn't really like it ;) The only good part of that is he won't bug me to buy it everywhere he sees it now :)
The fireworks show was actually more impressive than I thought it would be and I was really glad we went. It wasn't too crazy crowded, we had great seats, got in and out of there quickly and got to make firework memories with the kids. Boden however fell totally asleep in the middle of the show! And I was worried Dylan would be bothered by the noise but he didn't care at all :)
