Saturday was our last full day of the reunion. We decided to check out the tide pools at Laguna and a small neighborhood beach (my favorite part of Laguna are these little pocket beaches in the neighborhoods). Low tide was pretty early. We decided not to get up super early because we had been playing hard and staying up late, but we hurried and got ready once the kids were awake. Mat and Jen brought us some delicious SideCar donuts for breakfast.
When Grant and I woke up we checked on Rowan and Boden and they were sleeping like this...cutest thing ever!
The tide pools were fun. Rowan loved the "shore crabs" and we all touched a bunch of anemones. We saw a few brittle stars and had fun with cousins walking around the pools.
After the tidepools we drove just a mile or 2 north and checked out the beach and the "pirate tower". View from the top of the stairs. Besides the fact that there aren't any bathrooms or amenities, these kind of beaches really are my favorite. Less people and more beautiful!
The "pirate tower"...not really sure what its actual purpose is/was.
A few more tidepools...watch out Rowan!
The sun came out and it was gorgeous!
We played in the water, running away from the waves for a long time.
I asked Rowan to show me how to do it after they had been doing it for awhile.. he ran 2 waves with me and said, "ok mom, do you think you've got it figured out now?" haha.
LOVE!
We all went back to the hotel, spent a lot more time swimming and hanging out as a family, grabbed some dinner and then took family photos. I am super impressed how well they turned out. We had Grant's camera propped up on suitcases in the hotel courtyard with a remote timer...We couldn't let the opportunity for a picture of all of us to pass!
Siblings
And grandkids! 11 boys and 1 girl
Grateful for the wonderful time we enjoyed together in this beautiful spot!
