Grant came home from school yesterday with tickets to the UKCD Winter Blast, which everyone apparently refers to as "Tooth Prom." Karrie, thank you for saving me with the cute black dress! I realized that I have nothing semi-formal in my closet...looks like a shopping trip is in order. Melly, remember shopping in DC when I wanted to buy a "Christmas party" dress?! Well I should have gotten one because last night was the perfect opportunity to wear one!!! It took place in the Malone's Banquet room up above Sal's. We hadn't been to Malone's yet and were wanting to try it, but it is an expensive steak place, and on our student budget, hadn't quite found the time and money to make it happen. So, this was the perfect opportunity. It was $10 a person, which I was nervous about because we had been to some dental parties in the past with some disappointing food (mostly because of the scarcity of it) and I didn't want to pay $10 to starve the whole night.
As you can see from the picture below, the food DID NOT disappoint. It was amazing. Cheese platters, pasta bar, quesadillas, mini burgers and probably the best steak I've ever had, with awesome Kentucky bourbon sauce. It was delicious!

We took advantage of the free soft drinks at the bar (except they are a Pepsi-product restaurant which I am not a fan of, but oh well, free, and with all the limes I desired to help me feel better about cheating on my friend Diet Coke)

After chowing down on some seriously good steak and cheesecake (yeah, that was round 2). Let the dance party begin! (everyone was finally liquored up enough for some good entertainment on the dance floor...even from a few of the professors!)

And the night wouldn't have been complete without a picture with the enormous wall of Makers Mark...a Kentucky original :)

All in all an awesome party...and next year I will know that when the "Christmas/New Year's party dresses" go on sale, I can snatch one up for the tooth prom, because I will have an occasion to wear it to, and we will definitely be going again next year.
PS- Everyone decided to go to the bathroom, if only to wash their hands because they had one of
THESE! Mr. Dyson never ceases to amaze me :)
Sounds like a great party and good food. There's always built in entertainment with a bar. :)
ReplyDeleteThe hand dryer is way cool. Amazing how inventive minds come up with this stuff!
Ahh you should have gotten a party dress! I think as a dentist's wife you will need MANY cute dresses. The prom sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the Dyson Airblade! I love everything Dyson but especially the Airblade! I found one in the Minneapolis airport. It is fantastic.
They redid one of the bathrooms in the Wilk and put in one of those Dyson things, and get this...automatic toilet paper dispenser! Yeah thats right toilet paper! Looks and sounds like you guys had fun!
