Look at this face! Don't you want to just kiss and squeeze it all day?! I'm the luckiest girl ever because I get to :)
Rowan celebrated four months yesterday and I can't believe it's been that long, or that short.
He weighed in at 14 lb 3 oz (35th percentile) and was 25 inches long (52nd percentile). He is up from when he was born, but down from his 2 month appointment. This kid's growth curve is all over the place! However, he's meeting all his developmental milestones and is thriving so no one is worried yet :) His appointment went great, he charmed the doctor with his smiles and impressed her with his strong muscles. I miss Grant working at the hospital where all of our appointments are but it was still a good appointment and the new hospital is really nice.
Here are some pics from the last month, some of which demonstrate several of his new found skills. This month he's really started rolling a lot. For a few days he would scream when he got onto his belly, but now he's strong enough to enjoy tummy time. He almost immediately turns from back to belly every single time I lay him down. We also have been working on transitioning him into his crib and last night he slept in his room the entire night. I was kind of sad about him not being in our room anymore (I did not anticipate being sad about this), but I think it'll be good!
He has the most stunning eyes...EVERYONE comments on them. I love having him in the Bjorn everywhere I go...I make a lot of Japanese friends because of him :)
He still loves to be outside..instantly calms him even though it's not as pleasant as Oceanside was.
We drove across the island for sunset a few weeks ago and got a few cute pics of him...
I love how his eyes light up and he smiles so huge every time I smile at him... so cute and makes me feel pretty special :)
He has also become quite the drooler :) No teeth yet (and we hope there won't be any for another couple of months), but the drool has kicked into full gear. He also loves to chew on Grant and my fingers, and bites pretty hard! So, we brought out Sophie the Giraffe who he is now good friends with
He does a great job playing in his rock n play while I shower and we play peek a boo behind the shower curtain. This has been such a blessing to have him be able to be happy and awake while I get ready!
He has recently started sucking his thumb on occasion and I think it's the cutest thing ever. He was so tired the other day he just fell asleep in Grant's arms, thumb in mouth and death grip on the giraffe's neck. I know the thumb sucking won't be cute forever, but I am still not convinced it's going to be a habit...only time will tell
My perfect little sleeper has had a few sleeping issues this month, waking up and 4 and not wanting to go back to sleep, then waking up at 1 and 4. It really hasn't been that bad so I can't complain...mostly we've just been completely spoiled up to this point. Last night he slept from 10p-7:30a so we're getting back on track. Like I said, last night was his first full night in his crib, and I found him like this, this morning. Arm hanging through the slats down the side of the mattress and face pressed up against the rails. I'm conflicted on the whole bumper thing because this seems so uncomfortable but I can't seem to make myself ok putting them in after teaching parents that it's a no-no and reading so much on it. I'm sure it would be fine, but I think we'll stick to the open sides for now.
I remember countless hours during nursing school memorizing milestones of when a baby/child should be able to do certain things. It is so much more fun to actually watch a child learn new things. It is amazing to see him progress from looking at something, to smiling at it, to kicking at it and finally now he's starting to reach for things to play with them. I can see his mind so hard at work, its amazing.
Happy 4 months little buddy, we love you! Like last time, he has a high fever (up to 103) post immunizations, so we've been doing a lot of cuddling and sleeping today...I'm not complaining :)

He is seriously the cutest.
ReplyDeleteHe is the sweetest and cutest. Those big blue eyes! Can't wait to see and be with him again. So glad we got to spend most of his first month with him.
ReplyDeleteI think he is the cutest baby I have ever seen!
