Furniture upcycle :)

One of the down sides to moving to Okinawa was that our weight limit of what we were allowed to bring was VERY low. We were able to bring less than half of what our household goods weighed when we moved from Kentucky to California. Because of that, we had to be picky about what furniture we wanted to bring. We opted to put our dining table and chairs in storage, both because they are fairly large and I didn't know what kind of space we'd have here, and second, because we thought it would be a fairly cheap thing we could find over here. So, once we arrived here we were on the hunt. Finally we decided that we would buy a nice table and get cheap chairs on bookoo (the crazy online yardsale over here...similar to craigslist). We found a gorgeous handcrafted wood table made in Thailand that is fun because it folds, so can be a 3x3 ft table or a 6x3 ft table. We figured the small option might be nice when we move back because we can use it for something besides a dining table or as a small table in an eat in kitchen or something.

We then found some reasonably priced chairs on bookoo but I hated the color...so decided to take on my first furniture painting experience! I wanted a fun color and decided on "seaglass" as my inspiration, and I am so happy with how they turned out!

We also got the Stokke Tripp Trapp highchair for Rowan and I love it. It goes great with our new table and he looks SO cute sitting in it. The fun thing about it is that it grows with him so he'll be able to use it forever.
It really brightened up the space...loving them!
