Twas the night before Christmas...

Some pre-holiday photos from our weekend... a Christmas tree on base (thought we needed a photo with a "traditional" tree since we didn't have one) and Rowan hanging out with dad at a Christmas party we attended with several dentists on island...
Elf, The Holiday and the animated version of The Grinch, are my 3 must-see holiday favorites. The day before Christmas Eve, Grant had the morning off so we did some Christmas baking while watching The Holiday. It was good times. Rowan did his new favorite thing...eating National Geographic magazine covers :)
That night we attended a Christmas dinner/party for the single Marines who attend our church. Our calling is to help them stay involved and cared for while away from family on the island, so we had a nice dinner and games. Rowan sported his Hawaiian shirt and I couldn't stop singing "Mele Kalikimaka" all night. He also got a taste of his first cream puff...I like his mustache a little better than his dad's ;)
Christmas Eve started out with a bang...Rowan faceplanted into our hardwood floors and got his first little boo-boo :( He recovered quickly but still has a small bruise to show for it. We have insanely hard floors so unfortunately I'm sure this is the first of many injuries like this...
...but it was Christmas Eve and he wasn't going to let a little bonk on the head keep him down...
"Who you calling Elf?!"
Dressed and ready for the Christmas Eve festitivies
The GPS in Grant's car has this lady that talks every time you turn the car on and she wears a different outfit everyday. We turned it on to drive to Christmas Eve dinner and she was wearing this little Santa outfit, haha. It is a Japanese only car, and they don't even really celebrate Christmas here, but we appreciated it :)
The Frys hosted Christmas Eve dinner and then the kids put on a spectacular nativity program. Rowan made a pretty cute baby Jesus if I do say so myself :)
He enjoyed some new foods and his dinner consisted of mostly sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes. Water out of this cup may have been his favorite part of the evening though...
The ride home was not a good one...he screamed the worst he has in quite awhile but finally fell asleep. Even after getting him out of his carseat at home, he was sound asleep. Love holding a passed out baby :)
This was our first real year being Santa's elves...and I have to admit, it took Christmas to a whole new level. Even though Rowan really isn't old enough to grasp any of what was going on, he clearly understood some of the excitement and we couldn't wait for him to come see his toys on Christmas morning!
