Under the sea and on the shore

As with any trip, we were pretty concerned about weather while my parents were here. Obviously they would have been happy to just spend time with us, but they spent a lot of money and endured a flight across the world to be on a tropical island too...so we hoped and prayed for good weather! Overall, it cooperated! There weren't a ton of good beach days, but we made sure that beach was first on the agenda everyday, followed by an alternate activity weather permitting. We had 2 perfect snorkel/tidepooling days which we spent at Maeda Flats.

Almost exactly 2 years ago we were all in Hawaii together, where we all really learned to love snorkeling (especially my dad!) Growing up in California, you learn to love the beach, but the snorkeling is definitely nothing to brag about, so it's something we've learned to love on vacations. I was excited for him to snorkel here after seeing so much in Maui.
And it did not disappoint! Of course we didn't get good pics of everything, but here are a few examples.
There was someone out feeding the fish and when he was ready to leave, gave me the rest of the food (I have no idea what it was)...but the fish sure did love it!

We had some fun in the tidepools too and found so many different kinds of starfish!
Thought this tiny one was SO cute!

Rowan is always a pretty good sport too and floats around with us while we swim. Love having a little water baby!
And when you play hard, you crash hard! Nothing like a beach nap!
He woke in a happy mood ready to play again!
This kid is so stinkin' cute, I just can't get enough. I was lucky enough to get 5 days off in a row while they were here too, so we did a lot of fun playing :)
I think he looks like such a big kid in this picture, I can hardly handle how fast he's growing up. It is a lot of fun though...
Playing on the beach with Grandpa :)
The other great thing about having grandparents come to the beach...I got to do this for the first time since having a kid!!! It was amazing :)
Checking out the giant hermit crabs we found...

The views were breathtaking, water clear and perfect, the air temperature and humidity were even surprisingly comfortable. Such a fun few days at the beach...wish this rain would stop so I could go back now!
And wish these two were back here to go with us again...
