Back in Oceanside

We decided to go to San Diego to look at houses, visit our old stomping ground, etc...and it would be a good way for us to make the switch between families. Grant's parents drove us there and hung out for a few days and then my parents came down and took us back to their house. In theory it sounded great...and in reality it really was! We had so much fun!
Roadtrips: Our car rides were the longest of these kids lives! And they kept getting longer and longer with each leg. Seattle to Portland (3 hours), Gilbert to Oceanside (6 hours) and Oceanside to Davis (7.5 hours). I was a little worried about how the kids would do (mostly Boden), but they actually both did great! However, the whole way there Rowan wouldn't stop asking to go to the beach. He had a hard time with the concept that it was 6 hours away :)
Our old neighbors let us stay in their condo for the week and the second we pulled in the parking garage it almost felt like we never left. That year in our lives will forever be sort of magical in my memory. It was our first year of marriage out of school, I had my first pregnancy and we brought Rowan home to that house, I passed my nursing boards, we had tons of visitors, and we lived ON THE BEACH! It really was an amazing year. It was awesome to be back enjoying it again!
During the preceding weeks, we decided not to buy a house when we get there (at least not right away)...so our trip turned more to fun than business ;)
Here's a little sampling of what we did!

Parks! It was so fun to see Brian and Heidi (and baby bump) and Riley. Riley and Rowan "hung out" every day in utero in Oceanside :) We got to see their new house and spend some fun time out with them!
Grant's parents stayed with us the first two days before driving back home which was great!
Love this park right on the beach! Rowan's first time on a big kid swing :)
One of my favorite parts of living there was walking on the strand and down the pier. It was fun to take Rowan to see the pelicans on the pier...and of course they were excited about the beach cleaner! I love this pic of Rowan excited that Boden was sitting up and looking at the truck with him :)
Dinner at the harbor: (Rockin Baja fish n chips and steak, fish and lobster tacos)
The Beach: We had a good mix of cool and warm beach days. Perfect Novemeber beach weather...couldn't have asked for it to be better
Seagulls were a new thing for Rowan. He chased them around and laughed hysterically. It was so funny!
Okinawa sand is not great for sand castles, so this was a fun new thing for us to do! Rowan used his trucks to destroy it :)
Boden spent a lot of time eating and rolling around in the sand....so he needed some serious bathing :)
Sunset Market: Thursday night fun! Pretty walk to downtown followed by a delicious dinner and fun at the market. Rowan and Riley did some awesome dancing to the live band!

He was really scared to get on the horse, but Grant stuck him on and and the second the horse started moving he got the biggest smile on his face. It was adorable!

And the rest of our time was spent at "home": (lots of sunset watching, Extraordinary Dessert eating, and beach looking). Perfection.

My dad flew in to spend the last 2 days with us and drive back up north. Luckily he got the best 2 days of weather!
And then was our final road trip, Oceanside to Davis. We finished off our Trader Joe's pumpkin ice cream, got In N Out at the half way point and overall it was a great trip. Thanks so much to both of our parents for doing so much driving for us!
