Oceanside fun

The rest of my family left Sunday, but we decided that if we were going to fly across the country, that we were going to make it fully worth it and stay an extra few days. So, Sunday we headed up to Oceanside for the duration of our trip. We stayed with the Phillips and Rowan and Riley wasted no time at all getting reacquainted!
We spent that afternoon/evening playing in the hot tub and hanging out. It was so fun to be back with them!
The next few days were all spent at the beach! We lucked out with PERFECT weather the entire time.
Parks on the beach are so much better than normal parks :)
I had been wanting to get my hair done for a long time but haven't found a person here yet and unfortunately couldn't get in before the wedding, but I know a girl from when we lived there who does hair now and was able to get me in on Monday! So...that afternoon Alexa watched the big boys and Dylan and I went to my hair appt. It felt SO good to be blonde again and cut several inches off.
Needed something to make me feel good postpartum! (and the boys clearly had a good time with their park and ice cream date!)
That afternoon we took the paddle boards out too which I had been wanting to do and it was perfect! It was nice to have people to trade off with so I could leave Dylan asleep on the side while we went out with the other boys.

We shared the dock with a lot of loud sea lions while we waited..and made sure to keep a bit of distance so they wouldn't knock us off our boards!

Rowan wanted to go out one more time on my board...and he decided to be brave and stand up for the first time. yay!
And we were starving by the end so hit up In N Out on the way home. What a life. Miss living there near these beautiful people.

Then cuddles and books with Heidi before bed :)  The kids and I all slept on their huge couch in the back room, it was great!
Tuesday morning the kids were home from school and Heidi had a little time off work so we all headed to play at the park by the pier...
The park only occupied them for 15 mins before they ended up in the water...which I was slightly unprepared for.  But, we figured it out and even though they ended up mostly naked driving home, they had a ton of fun!
And since this was our last full day, we had to do the beach twice that day. I tried to get them to nap earlier, but they refused. Of course, they fell asleep on the way to the beach...but Dylan, the only one I wanted to sleep at that time, didn't sleep at all. Oh well!
The water was actually warmer than I anticipated, but it was still cold. That didn't stop Rowan from doing some serious boogie boarding though! I'm so sad we moved just as he learned how. He loves it so much and it's so cute to see him catch waves.
Then we did a lot of digging in the sand while Heidi ran and got us burritos, because we needed as much Mexican food as possible before returning to the east coast!
Watch out Riley!

That was the PERFECT way to end our trip. I really felt like I could have stayed another week, but it was probably time to get back. We missed Grant (but it was good for him to have time to study uninterrupted and clean the garage enough so my van fits in there now, yay!)
Wednesday we said a sad goodbye and got more tacos on our way to the airport. Unfortunately our flight home wasn't direct and we had to stop in Phoenix, but overall flights went well again. Boden didn't nap at all before or during the first flight, but was clearly so tired. Luckily, that meant he fell asleep about an hour into the long last flight!
And Grant is the best ever and picked us up at the airport at 1am! Boden was passed out! (how is he so flexible!?)
So grateful for the opportunity we had to take this trip and to Alexa for coming with us! Seriously, besides the fact that Grant couldn't come, I could not have asked for things to have gone better. Wedding was beautiful, weather was amazing, and we had so much fun. Even being 5 weeks postpartum with a newborn baby, it was such a great vacation!
