We spent the first week in the hotel on base until our stuff could be delivered. Unfortunately it beat us here and they put it in storage, so we had to wait for a day for it to be delivered. So grateful they were able to do it earlier than they originally told us, which was the day before my parents left. The hotel was pretty nice and although I was excited to no longer be in a hotel, it was the best choice given there was no furniture at our house. We were all so excited to be with Grant again. However, Rowan had a serious meltdown when he woke up the next morning and Grant had already gone to work. I think he thought we were going to get to hang out constantly since we had been reunited. I thought the 6 weeks apart would have been a good precursor to the business of residency but it may have just made it worse. We treasure the moments we have :)
Crazy how many deer there are everywhere here! We love it. Hopefully I can avoid hitting one with my car!
Move in day..the truck is here! Always feels good to be reunited with your stuff.
I feel like it all went pretty smoothly, except dealing with the worst
movers we've had yet (but I still can't complain too much, we only had
one thing broken and so many of our friends have had horror stories
recently). However, being 36 weeks pregnant and Grant not here to help
with the mover checklist, etc it was a little stressful. My parents were
a huge help with this though!
The kids were thrilled to have their bikes and scooters back. Too bad our amazing yard is also full of mosquitoes in the summer :(
The room that I wanted to use for the nursery was kind of a dingy off white...so I decided to paint. Sherwin Williams sea salt won. This was the day before our stuff arrived so I had to find something already there (from Grant's move) and this subwoofer did the trick :) Although I didn't want to do the work, luckily my mom encouraged me to paint the ugly orange bathroom as well, makes such a big difference!
We made friends with the neighbors who have 2 boys, each just a little younger than our boys...and they have a pool! Had some fun times with them
Discovered the neighborhood parks
Learning to make Maryland our new home!
