When we moved to Maryland, we were sad to be farther away from most of our family. However, we did join Grant's sister Cecily on this coast, and they have a sweet hookup to fly for free thanks to Bryce's work, so we have been planning to get together for awhile now. Cec found a weekend that worked for both of us, and then packed up her 3 boys and hopped on a plane from Atlanta to come see us! We were all very excited to have cousins coming to play. We haven't really gotten to spend much time with cousins despite having several similar ages to our kids...mostly because we've been so far away.
It was a short trip, but so much fun. The chaos of 6 boys under 6 was a bit much at times, but overall really fun. We picked them up Thursday afternoon, hit up Cafe Rio for dinner and then came home and played.
Friday Rowan really wanted to take them to the aquarium and since my pass could get all of us in for free it seemed too good to pass up. And we really did have a great time. It wasn't too busy, the kids got to run around together and we saw some fun stuff.
Rowan quickly decided "Dash is my favorite"
I think we looked a little crazy walking around with 6 little toe-headed boys
That afternoon we came home and let the kids go crazy playing in the basement. There was lots of potty talk, some pushing and tears, but also lots of fun and imaginary play which was fun to see them interacting. I'm hoping we can make it work to get together again sooner rather than later.
Saturday was our last day together and we decided to have them fly out of Reagan so we could hit up Georgetown that morning. It was also St Patrick's Day...so that night the leprechauns came, dyed the milk green, peed in our toilets, and left footprints in the kids' room when he left a green shirt out for them to not get pinched.
Here's a little of the chaos...Cec is good and ran around with them for awhile too
After playing for a bit, we grabbed some lunch and headed to Georgetown. It was even more fun because Grant got to come too. The boys are obsessed with going to "the waterfront" and were so excited to show dad. We played cars on the ramps, ran around the maze and got Georgetown cupcakes...and then dropped them off at the airport.
(and just imagine Dylan at the end of this lineup too :)
Cupcakes!
Dylan's first taste of a cupcake. He loved it...but he also loves peas and green beans. He's easy to please.
Glad they made the effort to come visit (flying with 3 kids, even if it's free is no easy feat)! Hope to do it again soon!
