Things kids say

Last year I started trying to note when the kids say or do something funny or memorable. I always think I'll remember funny things forever, and then a week goes by and we already forget. So I'm doing my best to document things in my phone when they happen. For the sake of not losing these memories, figured I should document them here also. Obviously I have been better at documenting during certain periods of time (it looks like mid pregnancy and during the move I was terrible at it). Recently we've had some funny stuff so I've gotten better at it again. Here is the last year of kids say the darndest things... (March 2017-March 2018) Rowan 3.5-4.5 years old Boden 22 months-2.5 years

3/3/17 Boden was standing up in the stroller trying to lean over. Me "Boden, sit down, you're going to die"
Rowan, "that will be really sad if Boden dies. We'll have to talk about what a fun person he is and then bury him" (We had discussed a little bit about what funerals were a few days prior)

3/2/17 Boden loves looking in the toilet and saying "snakes! " Just like Rowan, except he doesn't have the vocabulary for a variety of animals, haha

FaceTime with grandma and bub.  They ask is bub looks like the monster on Rowan' s pjs. He laughs and says  "no! This monster has hair! Bub doesn't have hair! "

Boden loves to turn off the lights and say "spoooooky!"

3/24 We have a friend (Cate) staying here and Rowan just said totally out of the blue "I have little nipples,  but not mom,  hers are big! "

Boden hit me and Rowan said, "Boden,  say sorry to mommy!  And say sorry to Jesus. Right mom? "

3/29 I gave Rowan a coloring page and the went to take a shower.  A few mins later I hear him screaming,  tell him to come in if he needs something...4 more mins so I finally go out mid shower to make sure something isn't really wrong. He is FREAKING out because he doesn't know what color bee antennas are supposed to be colored.

"Mom,  feel this waffle,  it will warm your soul"

4/5 had to tell both kids that they couldn't have any more broccoli or fruit until they ate some pizza!

4/13- Boden first bee sting, in his shoe. Keeps saying "step on bee, mean bee"

4/16 Cindy asked Rowan if the Easter bunny came. He said "no,  the Easter bunny is only in Okinawa,  not here" haha. We didn't see or talk about the bunny at all this year

Boden ate SO much candy at our Easter dinner, just kept shoveling it in his mouth

4/24 Rowan saw a penny in a fountain and wanted to make a wish.  Grant got the penny, he threw it back in and said,  "I wish for Jesus to be resurrected" lucky kid,  his wish already came true!

Rowan loves to say "sure." "I'm sure going to miss you. That's sure going to be fun. That's sure a lot of animals!" So cute.

Rowan, "have you ever seen...." Then makes up crazy stuff. (A huge jet that an even bigger tree fell on.  A blue leaf with dots that is even bigger than a whale!)

Boden says "why" to everything! But more than just why. He repeats the last word of every answer along with it. "Why bedtime?" "Because it's getting late?' "Why late?" "Because we've been up for a long time." "Why time?" Etc etc etc...could go on forever

4/18 Had to go get Boden in bed this morning.  He saw his decorated chair and party hat when I carried him into our room and he said,  "look mom! Hat! Happy birthday to me! "

8/14 i asked Rowan if our new house was feeling like home yet. He said "no,  it doesn't feel like our house yet,  we need to hang some pictures on the walls"

9/1- "I thought the baby was going to look weird but he didn't, he was cute"- Rowan hours after meeting Dylan

Boden "it's going to be awesome! "

9/13 Boden started saying Rowan instead of Row Row and Yes instead of Yeao. Getting big :(

11/15 Another real mom moment today... Dylan doesn't really nap all morning,  so I put him in the wrap, he falls asleep and we play blissfully outside... until boden poops in his underwear and I have to clean it all out  (still wearing Dylan). Sitting down washing him notice how gross the toilet is so clean that.  Then go to make dinner (still wearing Dylan and my back is cramping so bad by this point)... both boys insist on helping. Boden is eating raw butternut squash and Rowan is pointing at the hole in the chicken saying "thats where it's penis goes! Hahahaha. Wait, does a chicken have a penis?"

12/21 Rowan opening a Christmas present "come on fingernails, go faster! "

Boden potty trained!  "I go poop! I get a licorice!"

1/9/18 Rowan talking about his drawing "I did a fat body for a fat dad because he was wearing those tight pants" (after grant had squeezed into some super tight jeans last week)

"I don't like falling, I like riding down and staying on my wheels" Boden about riding his new bike down the big hill

Rowan ice skating. Grant skated by and i said, "you're a natural". 3 seconds later Rowan falls down and as he falls yells, "I'm not a natural!"

1/22 Randomly out of nowhere on the way home from dinner Rowan says "San Diego is awesome.  Its just so warm. I hate the cold winter" and it was 63 degrees today, haha

2/14 Boden came in a minute before the green light but lied and told me it was ok.  Rowan,  who had called out at 640 that he couldn't sleep anymore because he was too excited for his party stayed in the extra minute past boden for the light to come on

Boden calls everyome silly goose and when sees a group of geese says "look,  its a gaggle of the geese!"

2/26/18 Rowan "I'm scared of heights"
Boden "Don't worry Rowan, I'll shoot them for you!"

3/6 "Mom, can you run again now that your belly is all flat again?" Rowan

Rowan is drawing at the table dictating to me.  "I'm drawing a beach, so I remember the beach. I'm drawing an orange sun, to remind myself of when it was warm"

Boden just walked up from the basement with a bottle of laundry detergent in his hand and informed me that he peed in it. Even after a really long day, i couldn't contain my laughter

Rowan asked Alexa "are you lonely without children?"

Rowan said, "Please dont take any more pictures of Riley. Because we can't go there and it makes me miss her." Then a few hours later,  "Mom, i just saw a picture of Joey, please don't take anymore "


People always say you'll look back at these days and miss them. Although they are crazy, I totally believe it. I'm excited to see the wonderful people my kids will become and the things they will do...but I love the little funny people they are now and love this stage of life.
