LCDR promotion

Yesterday, Grant was promoted to a Lieutenant Commander in the Navy (O-4). We are so proud of him in this accomplishment and are grateful for the opportunity that he has had to serve our country through the military. We had a quick ceremony at the flagpole outside his tower. Kyle Nelson did the oath and I had the opportunity to pin him.
I had been looking forward to this little celebration with our family. Unfortunately the kids were crazy all day before we left (getting us all ready was quite the task, Boden had a fever-thank goodness for Tylenol which left him feeling fine, etc) but once we got there, everything went smoothly and it was great to be together, even though it was only for an hour before Grant had to run off to a study club leaving us to fend for ourselves for dinner and bedtime ;)

The endo department. He spends a lot of hours a week with these people!
Endo T1 residents (Kat, Grant, Blake and Molly)
Rowan is definitely a daddy's boy (which has become more evident in the last year). I convince him that he likes me too and I do nice things for him, but deep down he misses dad all the time. Everything is better when Grant is there to do it with him :)
Grateful for this family of ours and the experiences the Navy has given us no matter how crazy it can get. We have not had to endure a deployment which I am grateful for, but there have been other sacrifices, but we have always come through stronger and closer.
Congratulations LCDR Layton, we love you!
