Since living in Kentucky I have always loved derby day. However, it seems to always be a super busy weekend and hard to actually ever celebrate. But this year, we didn't have anything going on that evening so I decided to do a little something for it. Apparently everyone else was having a busy weekend because I invited several people and no one could join, bu it ended up being so much fun with just our family. I hope we can continue the tradition.
I printed all the horses and their odds, pics of their jerseys, etc so we could each pick a horse.
The boys helped mix lemonade mocktail mint julips
(still have some derby cups from the years we lived there)
I unfortunately didn't get a pic of the food but it was delicious. Kentucky hot brown sliders for the win.
The boys were a little unsure when I made them change into "church clothes" before it started, but then they got super into picking horses and watching them, etc. It was cute.
Happy 145th Kentucky Derby!
