Grant and I luckily both got a 3-day weekend this weekend (it doesn't always happen that our days off align, so it was really nice!)...not to mention the fact that it was also Easter weekend :) So, we decided to make the most of it, and we stayed BUSY! The Finlaysons invited us to go to the Botanical Gardens with them on Friday morning, so after a morning workout, we headed there in time to feed the animals. Rowan saying hi to the easter bunny :)
The tortoise and the hare. This guy was especially active today which was fun.
Rowan is usually very apprehensive about the monkeys (can't really blame him since they just jump onto you and try to steal food, but it was fun to watch him today because he seemed to really enjoy them and wasn't really very scared.
Last time we visited the goats, Rowan got head butted and knocked to the ground. They were a little nicer this time around, and there was even this cute little baby :)

"Hi!"
We lucked out and there were 4 huge bounce houses set up. The kids saw them and we figured they'd cost a good bit of money to use, but they were actually free! Most of them were a little too advanced for Rowan, but he loved running and jumping in the smaller ones.
And then he fell flat on his face...instead of crying he came out pointing to his nose and just laughing about it ;)
Family photo op :) Can't believe we only have about 7 weeks until that bump in my belly will be a little person on the outside!
After the gardens, we went to lunch (where Rowan fell asleep and napped in the booth while we ate), did a little shopping and the BX and decided we'd head to the zoo. We hadn't been in a little while, it was nice weather (and pretty soon it'll be too hot to want to do anything), and figured it wouldn't be as busy since it wasn't a weekend. The elephant noises started from the beginning!
Beware of the elephants. If you feed them they will get a stomach ache and if you get in their cage they will squish you :)
My favorite thing was probably when we walked around the corner and spotted the giraffes. Rowan yelled "WOAH!" so loud that everyone around was laughing and smiling. He then pointed and said "giraffe" which is a new word for him :) It was pretty cute.
The highlight for Rowan was probably the train ride. He saw the train at the beginning and wanted to see the "choo-choo" the whole time. We told him we'd ride it at the end and he couldn't wait! The instant we sat down in the car, he just calmly sat and had a permanent smile on his face. It was the cutest thing ever. Grant stayed on the side to take pics and Rowan just waved and waved as we rounded the corner by him.
We finished the day feeding the fish and swans and playing on these rock animals. It's amazing how fun regular things can be when you get a glimpse of it through the eyes of a toddler.
We were all completely worn out by the end though...I felt like such a wimp but by evening all we wanted to do was sit and relax! It was a pretty crazy day of walking though so I think we were justified in our late night laziness.
