This past weekend was General Conference which is always a welcome time of year. I love to listen to the talks given, and I love having a "break" from Sunday responsibilities at church (although Rowan was very upset that we weren't going to church).
Saturday I wasn't feeling great and was just kind of in a funk. We stayed around the house all day, getting some stuff done, then Grant went to priesthood session and I took the kids to In N Out (I was going to do drive thru but Rowan convinced me to eat there-I should have listened to my instincts). We had to sit outside, at the farthest table, he had to go to the bathroom twice during the meal-which is so annoying when you're the only adult and have a 1 year old that wants to touch everything in the bathroom and yell because it makes a fun echo, and then they didn't eat well, etc). I was just kind of over it. I went to bed with intentions of Sunday being better, and it was! We got up, didn't do anything elaborate for breakfast, but ate oatmeal (Rowan's request-lamest Conference breakfast ever, but oh well), and then watched the first session. Rowan would repeat random things he heard that were familiar and got excited every time he saw Pres Monson or Pres Eyring since he recongnizes them. When it finished, at 11, we quickly packed a lunch and headed west. "Take me to the sea, it's earth's most potent remedy". I knew I needed a little salt air. We had the best time walking around, eating and playing together as a family.
I didn't plan on anyone getting in the water, this was more of a take in the atmosphere type trip, but that has proven to be impossible with my children, so I'm glad I last minute grabbed some extra clothes! I love watching how happy they are playing.
After snapping all these shots of pure joy in their faces individually I wanted to get a cute one of them together...however, as always this proved almost impossible. But here they are in the same frame at least, haha.

The cliffs where we parked were almost as much fun as the beach. We had a great spot just a short walk along this fun path overlooking the ocean. Exactly what I was looking for!
Rowan, kicking up dirt as he runs...he cannot walk or run normally on dirt. He HAS to "make smoke" (dust) as he moves.
