Arlington at Christmas

Seeing the wreaths at Arlington was on my DC bucket list, and we thought Christmas Eve after church would be a great time! I would have loved to have gotten to place a wreath the month previous with the charity Wreaths Across America, but we weren't able to go. However, this experience was amazing. I was shocked by the size of the cemetery, hard to even convey how large it is. It was also a difficult thing to explain to the boys, but I was happy that they were reverent and seemed to feel the importance of it (besides a little bit of whining that they were cold...can't blame them though).
We walked up to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier which was very humbling. Being a part of the military community really made this even more special. I am so grateful for this people who gave the ultimate sacrifice so I can spend Christmas with my Sailor and family.
I love that Rowan seems to be standing at attention in this picture. Like I said, without even really understanding, they felt the sacredness.
My favorite! (not even staged). Talking about the sacrifice of these men and women.
Replacing a wreath that had fallen over...so Dylan and I sort of got to participate in the wreath placement :)
Trying to take advantage of this time we have living so near the Nations Capitol.
