One Sunday night, the weather was good, we had some time and we thought it would be the perfect time to check out the Festival of Lights at the DC Temple. We are sad that the temple will be closed for renovation almost the entire time we live here, but are grateful to have been able to be a part of this! Last month, we helped put some of the lights up (on the low bushes right in front of the visitors center), so it was fun to go and see the work (and the insanely talented work of so many others who spent countless hours putting these lights up). It was truly spectacular! We invited Mike and Alexa to go, unfortunately they were out of town but got to go a couple weeks later and loved them too (better than the ones we all paid to go see).
White lights lined the path up to the temple. So sad that Boden was cut out of this photo...but you can see the top of his head so it counts as a family photo :)
Because this was as good as it got!
I love having the kids tell the story of the nativity...I'm always impressed with the details they remember from year to year, even with how young they are.
The awesome colors were my favorite part. There were so many vibrant colored lights and each
branch of the trees had lights all over them. AMAZING!
We popped into the visitors center for a few minutes at the end, but the children's section was closed (what Rowan really wanted to do) so we didn't stay long. I wish we could have attended a concert but got there at a bad time to make it happen...however I was not disappointed by our experience at all. Hoping they continue this next year even though the temple will be closed.
