The bay for a day

I was very excited when I learned that my friend Rachel was home from Boston the same weekend that we were home. We weren't able to spend a ton of time together but we hung out for an evening at her parent's apartment in Oakland, and it was SO much fun to catch up. She had run the San Francisco marathon that morning so we talked a lot about it, which made me want and not want to run a marathon. I'll keep you all updated on my decision regarding that.
We spent the night in Oakland and spent an hour or so in Berkeley, ate breakfast at Whole Foods, and enjoyed the perfect weather!
We decided to do some touristy things in San Francisco and decided this is our home to be on Lombard St :) Looks so awesome with the flowers growing up the side. We spent a lot of time just driving around town looking at different houses and neighborhoods. We love to dream about different places to live.
We walked along the Wharf and piers and enjoyed the views of the bridge, Alcatraz, etc. and Grant loved all the fresh seafood everywhere.
We walked up to Ghirardelli Square and sampled some amazing chocolate after a brief walk along the beach.
We normally spend a majority of our time in San Francisco shopping, since we love shopping, but we decided to try to make it a cheap day and we succeeded. We found free parking the whole day, enjoyed time walking, and the only thing I bought was some sunglasses.
The coolest part of San Francisco being so hilly, is that there are so many views of the bridges, ocean, city, etc. Beautiful views from every angle.
After downtown we went out to Ocean Beach and then ended in Golden Gate Park at the Steinhart Aquarium. We got hooked up with some passes (keeping with the theme of our free day).
We enjoyed dinner in Oakland with Kendall and Izzy. Chicago-style deep dish. Good company and good food.
We headed back to Davis after our time there. It was a fun little night/day trip!
