Carpinteria camping

It has been a longstanding family "reunion" tradition, that my mom's side of the family (her cousins, etc) go camping in Carpinteria...a little beach town about 10 miles south of Santa Barbara about every other summer. We were very excited to learn that our planned trip home coincided with Carpinteria...so we made the most and made our way from Utah to California :)

This is my favorite kind of camping. We have awesome food...first morning we had pancakes with buttermilk syrup, bacon, eggs, and orange juice. Dinner we had carnitas burritos that were amazing. There are bathrooms and showers (a quarter for 3 minutes of warm water) and it is literally steps from the beach. I love it!

One night we always walk down to Foster's Freeze and get some ice cream. It is a fun little town, everything is within walking distance.
I don't even really like s'mores but I roast a mean marshmallow so I always eat a couple while we're there.
My "uncle" Howard loves making fires and we have one at most hours of the day. So nice when you wake up in the morning or warming up before getting in the tent for bed. We all sit around it at night talking for hours.
In town there are some fun little surf shops and random stores so we went shopping before the beach one day.
The view of walking back from the stores toward the beach.
And of course...my favorite part. This is where we spent pretty much all day everyday. We were blessed with the BEST weather, warm during the day, sweatshirt weather at night, couldn't ask for more.

  1. A fire on the beach looks like a lot of fun. I've just added Foster's to my list of places to visit in CA. Looks like so much fun!
