Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate...

This is enough chocolate to induce a chocolate overdose, but when I asked Travis what kind of cake Beth wanted for her birthday, he said "chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, she can't get enough of it." So, I used all of the chocolate pictured below to make this triple chocolate, devil's food, layered cake.
I used a recipe from the William Sonoma cake book (pictured above) and it turned out amazing! On each layer of cake I drizzled cocoa syrup to moisten the cake, and then put ganache between each layer. I finished it off with chocolate buttercream icing and white chocolate lettering and designs and a few milk chocolate curls.
We decorated for her birthday party...
...and then enjoyed the cake (topped with a dollop of chocolate whipped cream). It was delicious.
Topped with with 22 squiggly candles, Beth made her wish.
Hope it was a good one. Happy Birthday Beth!

  1. I'm dying here. For some reason my "Smart Ones" frozen dinner just isn't doing it for me tonight. :(

  2. That looks so good and also looks like I could eat 4 bites before it was too rich! I would love every bit though!

  3. Your blog is making me hungry Taryn! I'm not even a chocolate lover, but I love hearing how you put things together and decorate them. (And that BBQ chicken pizza looks amazing too). I guess this is what happens when you're a descendant of a Grandma who grew up on a cattle ranch--we all love food!
