A wonderfully crazy week

I remember when I started my blog I thought I would have nothing to blog about, etc (the excuse that everyone has before they start a blog). I always thought "I'll start one when I have a kid." Here I am 5 years later and so grateful that I have documented so many amazing memories already. The other thing I am so grateful about in having started so long ago is that I am now fairly fast and comfortable with posting. I can't imagine taking care of a new baby and learning the ins and outs of a blog. So here I am, sitting on our neighbor's outdoor sofa on the patio, under an umbrella, with the perfect amount of ocean breeze, listening to the waves crash and trying to get caught up on the events of the last few weeks.

We were fortunate enough to have my parents visit last week for my birthday and also to hang out for awhile before we move across the world! It is so fun to see my parents with Rowan in their new role as grandparents. I think they like it even more than they anticipated ;)

Last weekend I also turned 30! Because of the craziness that we call our lives right now, we didn't get to do a lot of celebrating, but we did go out to a delicious breakfast and dinner, went on a shopping spree with my mom during the week and then did Extraordinary Desserts the following weekend!
Besides being here to celebrate and play, they were hugely helpful with our move. There were times where I just didn't know where to start so my mom helped me focus and then they helped out with Rowan when I needed to be working with the movers. Our first move (the stuff that went into storage) was much more stressful. At one point, I was sitting on the bathroom floor, nursing Rowan and listening to 2 guys packing our stuff in the room next to me talking to each other about whether or not certain items were supposed to be packed. The subsequent 2 moves were much better!
Kitchen is EMPTY (except the candy drawer ;)
We also had another productive night...check me out :) We sold our Protege. I get weirdly sentimental about things like this but I was seriously too busy to even think about it. We posted it on craigslist and the next day it was sold! This was the first car we really bought together after we got married, it was fairly new and served us very well for the past 7 years... Weird that the next car we buy will be a right side drive!
And of course, no trip would be complete without a good bit of beach time.
Grant's parents came into town for a couple of days also, we we all got to hang out which was a lot of fun! Again, so fun to see grandparents with Rowan. My mom watched and fed him so I could go play in the water for the first time since I had him!
The waves were awesome, the water was "warm" and Grant and I had so much fun boogie boarding together. We just bought an underwater camera and actually got some cool videos of us catching waves.
View of our house from the water...
I'm pretty sad to be leaving Oceanside, but I'm excited to be moving to an island where we can continue being a beach family :)
Our house is now completely empty except for some borrowed air mattresses and the luggage that we are taking on the plane with us. Tomorrow is Grant's last day of work and we thought we'd be leaving Thursday but just got word that we'll probably be staying around another week...but I'm not going to complain. I'm excited to get over there and settle in, but I can definitely enjoy a few more days here!
