Since we ended up with a few more days here than originally anticipated (evidenced by the fact that we had to go buy more diet Coke and toilet paper yesterday :) we decided to explore a few areas that we hadn't really spent much time at yet. Saturday we drove up and went to Cars and Coffee in the morning in Irvine one last time and then headed for Laguna Beach. We found some really cute coves in amazing little neighborhoods. Rowan did amazingly well the entire day, we were pretty happy about that. Grant has loved the fact that we've also been driving everywhere in his car the last several days since mine is sold and we took the rental car back on Thursday when we thought we'd be flying out originally! His car is going into storage tomorrow though so we'll be back with the rental car and he'll begin his penny saving to make it the car of his dreams when we move back :)
Morning stroll on the beach...
The houses here were seriously amazing...can't even imagine how much it would cost to live there! We enjoyed looking at their landscaping and dreaming of living there :)
Family photo (it's just hard to see Rowan ;)
There he is :) -poking his eye out (not an uncommon occurrence for him :)
We then went and grabbed some sandwiches ("super delicious sandwiches") and were planning to go to Crystal Cove and hike around, etc. but didn't want to risk Rowan hating it once we got there, so decided to just go to the beach again-and we found amazing parking right away!
But of course, we didn't get to eat until Rowan did :) So glad to be over having thrush...makes feedings on the go so much easier!
Rowan obviously really enjoyed his lunch...what a happy and satisfied looking little beach boy!
Love this picture of the boys laying out
And since we didn't have the umbrella shade, we made our own. And boy was he excited about it :)
The beach with a baby is definitely a bit more difficult than without, but he's a trooper and did a great job. Even let us dress him up in his hat and glasses and take random pictures of him :)
Kisses...
And we decided Rowan needed to get his feet wet in this side of the Pacific before moving...so this was his first experience actually getting his feet wet. He seemed to like the feel of the wet sand and dug his little toes in.
And when the water hit his feet I think he was a little shocked and pulled them up (the water was pretty cold this weekend), but again, really didn't seem to mind it. I think he'll prefer the 75 degree water in Oki since he's a little water baby and absolutely loves the bath!
On the drive home, we stopped and walked around Dana Point. There was this amazing neighborhood with a ton of empty lots for sale. Who wants to pool some money together with us for one?! :) Who knew there was still ocean front property in California with nothing built on it yet! Gorgeous!
It was a bit overcast for most of the day, but the sun did break through, and honestly it was probably better that way given that we were in the Volvo with no air conditioning and vinyl seats :) Again, Rowan did awesome, slept lots, was happy when he was awake and we had a really fun mini staycation day with our little family!
