Our move has gone fairly well thus far (besides the fact that the movers for our storage shipment called the day before they were going to show up, which was a week and a half earlier than we anticipated them!)...but again, overall things have gone pretty smoothly. We had to schedule our shipments months in advance and it was hard to know the timing of when would be best for us to have our stuff picked up. We knew we'd either have to live without it here for a little while and over there for even longer. I hope everything continues to go well. It was weird deciding what we could live without for 3 years and then carefully deciding what to take so that we wouldn't be over our very small weight limit that Okinawa allows.
We now have an air mattress in our room that we are sleeping on. Rowan has his rock n play that he sleeps in, and we have another air mattress with pillows on it as our couch (pictured below) in the living room. We also have 2 plastic outdoor chairs in case we feeling like sitting a little higher than the floor :)
Overall I actually don't mind our living
arrangements and I've done surprisingly well adjusting. We have NOTHING
in the kitchen except food and some paper products but I still seem to
be eating well enough. I'm currently addicted to the Costco microwave
edemame packets and Cherry Coke Zero (but that's nothing new). I cut our
big block of fancy gouda with a plastic knife and had that with some
salami for lunch while I sit here blogging enjoying this downtime while
Rowan sleeps. It's been a difficult morning of him not wanting/being
able to fall asleep so now that he's down we are both enjoying the rest
:)
However,
yesterday I felt the need to hang out, not on the ground, so Rowan and I
headed outside to hang out on Carol's patio furniture. So grateful that
they are so generous to let us hang out whenever we want up there.
Makes this "condo camping" pretty awesome. Grant came and hung out after
he got home and I went inside to grab something from the house and when
I walked out and saw him sitting there reading, with Rowan sleeping on
the couch next to him, the sunny beautiful beach behind him, I honestly
could hardly believe this was normal life. I know we've been here over a
year, but I still feel so blessed to have had this experience.
Rowan LOVES playing and sleeping outside. Glad he's already a beach baby. I'm sort of terrified to live away from the beach because he's been so spoiled by the sound and breeze...I've already downloaded ocean noises on my phone for the flight and hotel when we get there :)
Listening to Pandora on the bluetooth stereo...
Then he started to get a little fussy which means...NAP TIME! (notice the cute little x that's he makes scrunching up his face around his eyes and nose when he gets upset :)
Swaddle, cuddle, sleep...
Well today is Grant's last day of work, and we were supposed to fly out tomorrow...but the military likes to complicate things and we are not in control of anything, so it looks like we won't be leaving until a week from today. However, despite not having anything here, I'm really excited to have a week of southern California "vacation" before we head to Okinawa!

Wish we could still be camping with you and cuddling with that little guy. Hope you have a great last week.
ReplyDeleteHe keeps getting cuter.
